MICKEY BALLARD
FROM YOUR MUSIC PASTOR MBALLARD@EASTMONT.ORG

As November comes to a close and December is just around the corner, I will take this opportunity to express a word of
thanksgiving for the many who serve in the music and worship ministry—in service to the Father— with me. As you sing
songs of worship, as you hear deacons praying and see ushers greeting, as you walk by the production booth in the
sanctuary or watch/listen to the service online, say a prayer of thanksgiving for those who have answered the call to
ministry to make it all happen.
The Carols of Christmas: A Community Carol Celebration for All Ages
This December, Eastmont Baptist Church invites you to sing the songs of the season as the Eastmont Baptist Church
Choir and Orchestra present The Carols of Christmas: A Community Carol Celebration for All Ages. In a world that is
seemingly so divided by age and other man-made differentiations, it’s exciting to see so many generations come together
and share in the joy of the season and celebrate the birth of Jesus. From children to teenagers to adults to senior adults,
this work draws us all together for one purpose—to worship!
The Carols of Christmas is a collection of familiar carols and new compositions in a multi-media format for the River
Region Community to engage and sing together. This work is truly for all ages as the musicians will range in age from 5 to
90. A 50-voice choir and 20-piece orchestra form the core of the performing forces for this magnificent collection and
arrangement of carols. Assisted by nearly 30 students on a few selections, each night should prove to be an exciting array
of musical experiences for the listener. Combine that with professionally created visual elements which accompany the
musical elements and the opportunity to sing along on a number of the selections, the audience will truly be enraptured
by the music of the season.
As an added bonus and purpose, we are collecting an offering to support Friendship Mission, the sole remaining
homeless shelter in the River Region. You, the Eastmont family, have so generously agreed to match up to $10,000
collected from attendees those two nights. An additional $5,000 has also been pledged as a matching gift to support
Friendship Mission. Invite your friends and neighbors, those with whom you come in contact at stores and restaurants,
and those with whom you interact on social media. Let us come together that weekend to support our community and
celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. Let us make this a positive community celebration!
