Good afternoon BSD Community,

As you know, it is my goal to ensure strong communication throughout our District. With that in mind, I am writing to share
with you that I have accepted the resignation of BHS Principal Deb Beaurpe. Please see my note to BHS families and
staff below, which outlines our next steps.

I know hearing about mid-year resignations is really hard. Please know my team is working diligently to ensure that we
support our administrators to help minimize the frequency and impact of mid-year disruptions. We will look at this situation
and others, learn from them, and do better. Thank you for your support as we move forward.

Sincerely,
Tom

Dear BHS Students and Families,

I’m writing to let you know that Principal Beaupre has resigned from her position at BHS. Today I let our staff at BHS know
that I have accepted her resignation which takes full force and effect seven days from today. I hope you will join me in
thanking Deb for her work at the high school and wishing her all the best in her future endeavors.

Today HR will post an interim principal position as well as an anticipated interim assistant principal position. We will work
to fill these positions quickly to ensure that we have a full leadership team in place at BHS as soon as possible. We will
also work with HR to begin the hiring process for the next principal, who will begin July 1, 2024. This process will include a
search far and wide and will have a community component as well.

Principal Westdijk has done a great job of stepping up to fill the role of acting principal and I am grateful for her strong and
steady leadership. I also know that we need to add support for the BHS community as we move through this time. With
that in mind, we are bringing on a few additional people to assist with building safety and security, and student support
services. First, we have hired a second security position who will assist in monitoring entry and exit points and student
activities. That individual, Adrien Jean-Christrian, recently began at BHS and we are excited to have him onboard. In
addition, we have hired BJ Robertson and Dennis Clifford to join our student support services team after Thanksgiving
Break. BJ and Dennis are well-known in our community and already have connections to many of our students, which
they are excited to build on as we seek to create a restorative and positive school culture and climate.

Finally, I want to thank you all for your continued support of DTBHS and our District. I have seen us come together in the
past to tackle difficult situations as a community, and I am seeing that now as well. I want more than anything to get
stability in leadership at the high school, and I give you my word that we will work hard to do this. I know that sentiment is
shared throughout our community. In the meantime, I also know that we will continue to work together to provide a
positive learning environment for our students. Just this morning I spent time with the BHS faculty after their annual run
and walk to raise money for students in need (the Seahorse Cup!). I was struck by the expressions of joy, positivity, and
connection as they joined together to spend time, celebrate each other, and support our students. Faculty and students'
experiences mirror each other in many ways and our BHS leadership team and faculty will be working together to cultivate
this same sense of joy and connection with our students.

I hope you have a great break and have some time to be with family and loved ones over the next few days.

Sincerely,
Tom
P.S. I will send this message more broadly later this afternoon, but I wanted you to hear it from me first.
