Project A Diaries
1 This is a page from Macbeth’s diary. He wrote it the day after King Duncan’s
murder. Read it and answer the questions below.

Thursday

I did a terrible thing last night.


In the evening, I waited downstairs. My wife
gave the king’s servants a lot of wine before
they went to bed. When my wife rang the bell,
I went upstairs to the king’s bedroom. His
servants were in bed. They didn’t wake up,
because the wine was very strong. Their
daggers were on the table next to their beds. I
took the daggers and walked to the king’s bed.
And then I killed the king! Later I killed
his servants, too. Everyone is going to think
they are the murderers. But I’m worried about
Banquo. Perhaps he knows the truth!
