ABOUT THE NGO

Udayan is a Sanskrit word meaning 'Eternal Sunrise'. Udayan Care aims to bring sunshine
into the lives of underserved sections of society that require intervention. Registered in 1994
as a Public Charitable Trust, Udayan Care works to empower vulnerable children, women
and youth, in 34 cities across 15 states of India.
Starting with the establishment of just one small family home (Ghar) for orphaned and
abandoned children in Sant Nagar, Delhi in 1996, Udayan Care has spread its work for
disadvantaged groups during the last 28 years by establishing more family homes, helping
girls' education, providing vocational training etc. To date, Udayan Care has nurtured over
25,000 young minds. This has been made possible only through the support of like-minded
people, donors and partners who believed in Udayan Care's work and mission.

PROJECT TITLE

Research on CSR Corp, data consolidation & reaching out to CSR Heads for
collaboration with Udayan Care.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

To look out for new corporate donors & building relation with them as to impact the
lives of Udayan Care beneficiaries. Finding out new corporates list whose CSR thematic
areas align with Udayan Care programmes.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES DEPUTED

I looked out for prospective corporate donors who have same CSR goals as of Udayan Care
and created an Excel sheet which included how the CSR activities of the company aligns with
that of Udayan Care, similar initiatives by the NGO, the Application Procedure to ask for
funds, CSR heads and their contact number and email id, and their implementing partners.
I even had to confirm that will the company even give funds to the NGO by researching
about the corporates in depth and even filling a few forms to confirm the same.

OBSERVATIONS AND FINDINGS

  My time spent working with Udayan Care enlightened me on a great deal of
information that I was previously unaware of. I also realized how important it is to
gather a variety of different types of information.
 A sense of responsibility was developed by having a lot of work to do and continuing
to do it despite knowing you wouldn't receive anything in return. After going through
all of this, I now have the capacity to complete tasks without concentrating on how to
turn a profit from them.
 I was able to develop the ability to work under strict time constraints, operate within
established guidelines and guidelines set by my senior, and to quickly and effectively
articulate my ideas in written form.
 As far as technical skills go, this internship was able to help me improve my grasp on
essentials such as Excel, formatting and corporate writing.

FEEDBACK

I believe there is room for improvement in the coordination and communication between the
interns and the volunteer management team. We have occasionally expressed confusion or
uncertainty about our roles and responsibilities and struggled to receive timely answers to our
inquiries and worries. I would advise the group to focus on developing effective lines of
communication..

CONCLUSION

The internship at Udayan Care was incredibly beneficial and rewarding. I was able to learn
more about the inner workings of a non-profit organisation and the various difficulties faced
by children and young people from underprivileged backgrounds throughout the course of my
internship. Working with committed and passionate people inspired me and gave me the
chance to learn new perspectives, abilities, and insights.
