Currently, there are basically two strategies for interpreting text in English: skimming and scanning. Generally, the
natural tendency of a native Portuguese reader is to try to understand each word, but according to these techniques, this
is not necessary. For people who are not native speakers of a language or are not fluent in it, fixating on understanding
the meaning of each word can end up getting in the way of interpreting text in English. That is, in an evaluation like the
Enem, prefer to understand the general theme of the article than the meaning of each word.

Atualmente existem basicamente, duas estratégias de interpretação de texto em inglês: o skimming e o scanning.Geralmente
a tendência natural do leitor nativo do português é buscar entender cada palavra, porém de acordo com essas técnicas, isso
não é necessário. Para pessoas que não são nativas de uma língua ou não são fluentes, se fixar em entender o significado de
cada palavra pode acabar atrapalhando a interpretação de texto em inglês. Ou seja, em uma avaliação como a do Enem,
prefira compreender o tema geral do artigo do que o sentido de cada palavra.

The reading done with the scanning technique is similar to what a scanner does, hence the origin of the name. The
scanning technique is used in the interpretation of text in English as a way of fast and superficial reading. The aim is to

concentrar em palavras chaves ou ideias ou seja, realizar uma varredura do texto.Podemos dar um exemplo realista
dessa técnica quando lemos rapidamente a primeira página de um jornal. Além disso também a usamos quando olhamos
rapidamente para algumas páginas da internet, ou quando procuramos uma palavra no dicionário. Em todos esses casos
estamos fazendo um rastreamento, procurando por algo que nos chame a atenção.Ao fazer scanning na sua interpretação

This English text interpretation technique is especially useful when the article is very large and there is a risk of
spending a lot of time reading. The speed employed with the procedure is three to four times greater than the common

de passar muito tempo na leitura. A velocidade empregada com o procedimento é de três a quatro vezes maior do que a

um dado específico. A questão é que o texto não precisa ser lido em sua forma completa para que se possa interpretá-lo.
