The 5 goals I had for this year were to decrease turnover and grievances, and increase morale,

productivity, and quality. I have seen improvement overall in each area however, I have
discovered that progress is going slower than I expected. Whether my expectations were off, or
my performance was off, I have realigned how much I expect to progress in the next year. My
hope was that increasing morale through training, programs and raises would domino effect
improvements in the rest of the categories. In a sense it did, but I realize it was not as I
expected. I came so close to meeting my year end goals for morale and productivity with morale
reaching about 41%, so close to my goal of 50% and productivity reaching about 7.5% where my
goal was 10%, but very much underestimated the difficulty with decreasing turnover. Despite
giving raises and increasing benefits, turnover has still been a challenge, although improvement
has been made. My goal was to decrease turnover to 5% but I came in at 7.8% for a decrease of
2%. My choices in quarter 2 of giving the upper-level employees a raise really negatively
impacted my employee morale and grievances in the following quarter. I was a little confused
about the dissatisfaction from the level 1 employees because they were the first ones I gave a
raise to in quarter 1. After that quarter, things started to improve again. My quality goal didn’t
even come close, but I plan on adding a full-time quality control manager with the added
budget this year. I think I could have put more funds toward quality control last year. I will see
how things progress with the quality control manager and adjust from there moving forward. As
far as turnover, I will continue to try to improve employee commitment with added benefits and
an annual raise. Wages are above the industry on all levels but still below the median salary. I
think increasing wages above the industry median will make my company a more competitive
place to work. Throughout the year I will work on trying to increase the appeal of the benefits
as well.
