Upper Lower Case Alphabet Order Spoons
Upper Lower Case Alphabet Order Spoons

Practicing your alphabet as an adult language learner can be embarrassing and feel demoralizing. Since Spoons is a
card game normally played by adults, this version gives my older learners the chance to practice this very basic skill
without feeling like children. The final goal of this game could be one of several different options:
Upper– and lower-case form of two consecutive letters
Upper-case form of four consecutive letters
Lower-case form of four consecutive letters
Any one of the above options
These goals allow students to practice distinguishing between upper– and lower-case letters, as well as the correct or-
der of the alphabet. To assist with the goal of distinguishing between the shapes of upper– and lower-case letters, the
lower-case letters are the same size as the upper-case letters on the individual cards. This means some letters, such as
V and Z, will appear the same on both cards.
