Last Updated Cause

On a PowerFlex 525 drive an F111 [Safety Hardware] fault occurs when the two safety
Products channels are not opened at the same time. The maximum delay time is as follows:
Drives & Motors > Low
Voltage AC Drives > • The discrepancy time is one second for PowerFlex 525 FRN 5.xxx and later.
Compact-class AC drives • The discrepancy time is 10 milliseconds for PowerFlex 525 FRN 4.xxx and
> PowerFlex 525
earlier.

Answer

To prevent this fault from occurring, address the safety channels issue to eliminate
the cause and then cycle power to the drive in order to clear the fault. In firmware
versions 5.xxx or later, you can reset F111 using an clear fault command when
Parameter T106 [SafetyFltRstCfg] is set to a 1 [FltClr Reset].

• Confirm that both channels are triggered by the same safety relay. If using
an external 24VDC power supply the -DC of the power supply must be tied
back to terminal 4 on the drive.
• If needed use an oscilloscope to check for debounce of these channels.
• If the safety inputs are not being used then verify and tighten the
jumper between terminals S+, S1 and S2. If the jumper is in place and the
fault still occurs then replace the drive.

Note: Always verify that the safety and risk assessment allow changes to the safety
circuit.
