Title: Weed identification
Aim: To identify weed species, present at CASE crops farm and determine their implications for
the crops being grown.

Introduction
What are weeds?
What effects do weeds have on crops?
What are the benefits of positively identifying weeds?

Materials and Apparatus


• Plant identification app/Weed identification manual
• Camera

Procedure
1. Visit the CASE crops farm
2. Identify 10 weed species growing amongst the various crops on the farm
3. Classify each specie identified based on their life span, growth habit, texture and morphology
4. What are the implications for the crop with which each species is associated
5. State a suitable management strategy for controlling each weed species in the associated crop

Results & Discussion


• Pictures of the weeds identified
• Scientific and common names of the weed
• Classification of the weed
• Implications for the crop with which each species is associated
• Management strategies
