Detailed lesson plan in Music

I-Objective:

at the end of the 40 minutes period, the students should be able to:

a. Demonstrate understanding of the various tempo


b. Performs a given song, using tempo marks appropriately
c. Identify the different tempo in a given song or music:
-allegro
-andante

WHAT IS TEMPO? And what are the
different types of TEMPO?

This morning/afternoon, we will


explore the world of music,
specifically the world of TEMPO!
B. Discussion:
What is TEMPO?

Tempo indicates the speed or pace


of music. It tells how fast or slow
the music is.

Tempo is an Italian word for time. It


indicates the speed at which a piece
of music should be played. It is
written above the first bar on the
piece of sheet in music. Typically,
the speed of music is measured in
beats per minute or BPM. The
lower the number of beats per
minute the slower the tempo will
feel. Inversely the higher the
number of beats per minute the
faster the tempo will be. They
maybe range for a very slow,
moderate, and fast. A sad song is
usually slow while a happy song is
fast. Tempo is found in our
everyday life. The different types of
tempo are:
1. Allegro
2. Andante
3. Ritardando
4. Accelerando
5. Largo
6. Presto
7. Vivace

But we will focus more on allegro


and andante.

D. Generalization:
What part of our discussion do you None ma’am…
find difficult?

So, tempo is the speed of music,


it’s either slow or fast. We have to
understand and learn tempo to
have and idea what speed to play a
particular piece of music.

The two example of tempo we have


discuss earlier are the Andante and
Allegro.
Andante is slow but not too slow.
Allegro is fast speed. Understand? Yes ma’am…

E. Evaluation:

This time, let’s have some fun doing


this activity. Identify the different Okay ma’am
tempo through listening. Write it in
a one-half sheet of paper, cross
wise.
Write Andante if the music is its Yes ma’am…
tempo, and write Allegro if the Okay ma’am…
music is its tempo.
