CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

It is impossible to separate human need from the extremely rapid

growth of technology. Technology is not just available to adults; kids

may utilize it too. The existence of technical media, particularly

social media that leverages the internet, raises concerns about the

potential effects on families, necessitating research to get a clear

understanding. According to Shioban (2012), the complexity and

diversity of interpersonal connections have increased in modern

society, building worries concerning the future of the family unit.

According to Scott, the demise of conventional families is a result of

people growing more autonomous and spending less time with their

families. Understanding the psychological mechanisms through

which symbolic communications affects human thinking, emotion,

and behavior is of utmost importance in today's culture where social

media plays a significant role. Human behavior is frequently

described in terms of unidirectional causal relationships, in which

actions are formed and controlled either by internal or external

forces. Social media is generally regarded as a beneficial

development, but it also seems to be contributing to relationship

issues, particularly those involving communication, privacy, and time

demands. According to Galasso-Bonanno, social bolster can be a

solid indicator of positive mental wellbeing. Passionate back has

been appeared to secure us from a wide cluster of both psychiatric

and physical afflictions. Be that as it may, not all like online

fellowship, real-life connections takes time and exertion. They offer

assistance us learn approximately others and eventually ourselves.

Based on the discussion above, it was possible to identify a two-fold

problem that served as a starting point for the present investigation.

As it has been noted above, one problem area is a possible trend of

developing online network connections between families and friends

instead of nurturing face to face connections. While some individuals

thrive on face to face interactions, others use the convenience of

social media to conduct most of their communications. The second

problem area involve better understanding how social media impacts

relationship between families. In essence , communication styles

vary considerably among older adults and younger adults, as does

personal propensity to undertake efforts and of effectinve

communication. It is these differences that underlie the problem

areas of this study. Once relationships are established between

family social networks and social bonds, strategies can be explored

to promote healthier communication and interaction. Communication

is a very important in building healthier relationships. The findings

of this study will help raise awareness about the impact of

social media on family relationship.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

LITERATURE. These reviewed articles were taken from different

websites, articles, memorandum, books, journals, and magazines.

The pieces of information obtained have helped the researcher in the

study.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Our Your Future

METRO MANILA COLLEGE 4

Figure 1

This study is supported by British psychologist Richard Gregory’s

Top-Down processing Theory where he stated, “Top-down theories

are hypotheses-driven, and stress the importance of higher mental

processes such as expectations, beliefs, values, and social

influences” He explained that past experience and prior knowledge

related to a stimulus help us make inferences. For Gregory,

perception is all about making the best guess or a hypothesis about

what we see. Furthermore, in our study parents’ outlooks or

perceptions play a vital role in making decision in their child school-

related issues especially the implementation of limited Face-to-face

classes amidst the pandemic.

For them to trust the school administration in implementing

limited Face-to-face classes, parents must have a more positive

attitude towards the school and its staff, and gain more confidence

in assisting their children by being involved with their education.

Further researcher stated that, the ability of schools to adjust and

react to rapid societal changes is reflected in ‘parents’ satisfaction

with school. In general, the construct describes a situation in which

parents are satisfied with how schools handle their child’s education

or with more general school qualities and performance, such as

school infrastructures and communication.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

Figure 2

This study shows the factors and connection of the different

concepts and variables that affects to the view on the

implementation of limited face to face class in basic education

department. Furthermore, school reopening for face-to-face

interactions must be carefully planned in stages to ensure the safety

of students, teachers, and school staff, especially after physical

separation. Planning and execution of school health protocols during

this pandemic must be backed up by accurate data provided by
