Objectives
● Construct a series and a parallel circuit using a virtual
laboratory.
● Connect voltmeter and ammeters to the circuit correctly.
Procedure:
1. Go the virtual laboratory using the given link.
Using the components on the left panel of the screen, drag and drop the
components to construct a series circuit. Refer to Figure 1. Your circuit should
consist of:
2 dry cells
2 light bulbs
3 ammeters
1 switch
8 connecting wires
Figure 1
2. Close the switch and record the ammeter readings in the similar table below.

Brightness of bulb (bright or dim)
Pathway of flow of electrons
(use clockwise or counterclockwise)
Bulb 1 is the first bulb to be connected in the circuit
3. Describe the brightness of the bulbs and pathway of flow of electrons by
clicking the show current and electrons. Please refer to Figure 2.
Figure 2
4. While the switch is closed, cut one part of the circuit, and observe what will
happen to the bulbs. Refer to Figure 3.

Resistance (Ω)
Note: Solve for the total resistance using Ohm’s Law equation. Since we are looking
for total resistance, you will use the values for total voltage and total current.
Procedure:
1. Go the virtual laboratory using the given link.
Using the components on the left panel of the screen, drag and drop the
components to construct a parallel circuit. Refer to Figure 6. Your circuit
should consist of:
2 dry cells
2 light bulbs
