A. Content Standards

The learner demonstrates understanding of: South and West Asian literature as an
expression of Philosophical and religious beliefs; information flow various text types;
reality, fantasy, and opinion in listening and viewing materials; word decoding strategies;
and use of information sources, active passive, constructions, direct, reported, speech,
perfect tenses, and logical connectors in journalistic writing.

B. Performance Standards

The learner transfers learning by composing a variety of journalistic texts, the contents of
which may be used in composing and delivering a memorized oral speech featuring use of
properly acknowledged information sources, grammatical signals for opinion-making,
persuasion, and emphasis, and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

C. Learning Competencies

The learner demonstrates the communicative competence through his/her understanding of


Literature and other texts types for a deeper appreciation of every culture.
I. Objectives:

a. EN8V-IIIi-25: unlock the difficult words in the story;


b. answer the questions based on the story correctly;
c. create an advertisement and slogan;
d. share their personal insights about hospitality and generalize that in everything we do,
there’s always a fruit.

Who are the characters in the story?


The characters in the story are Ali Ben Ahmed
and his tribe,
Zuleika, The Great Sheik Ben Nedi, Zuleika's
Mother and the fairy.

Why did Zuleika love visitors?
Zuleika loves visitor because they tell stories of
the wonders which her eyes had never seen. To
the little girl who had lived all her life in the
desert, these stories were marvelous fairy tales.

How did Ali Ben Ahmed show their hospitality to the
stranger?
Ali Ben Ahmed and his tribe welcome the new
comer. They bowed their turbaned heads almost
to the ground to a low salaam as the rider pulled
up his sweating mount.

Why was the visit of Shiek Ben Nedi a big deal to the tribe
of Ali Ben Ahmed?
Because Ben Nedi was a very great sheik.
Indeed, known far and wife for his power and
goodness, and to have him visit the remote tents
of Ali Ben Ahmed was an honor.

Because the gift of Zuleika was straight from the
desire of the heart.
