OVERVIEW / DESCRIPTION / REASON OF CODE:

This test confirms the transmission is regulating proper ratio while in 4th range.

DRIVER'S OBSERVED EFFECT / SYMPTOMS, ECM EFFECT / SYMPTOMS:

When DTC P0734 is in process, the following Conditions will Occur:
1. If TCM fails its attempt to shift to fifth range, it commands third range.
2. TCM ignores shift selector inputs until diagnostic response is in process.
3. The CHECK TRANS light illuminates.
4. TCM history stores DTC.
5. TCC engagement is inhibited by TCM.
6. TCM freezes shift adapts (DNA).

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE CODE ONCE REPAIR COMPLETE:

DTC can be cleared up from the TCM history using the diagnostic tool. If the vehicle finishes 40 warm-up
rounds without the DTC recurring then the DTC can be automatically cleared up from the TCM history.

POSSIBLE REPAIRS:
DTC P0734 May Be Caused by:
1. Output shaft speed sensor signal circuit issues
2. Turbine shaft speed sensor signal circuit issues
3. Low clutch pressures, main pressure, or control main pressure
4. Control module issues like stuck/sticky valves, mechanically faulty solenoids, torn springs, damaged
valve bores, plugged suction filter, damaged gaskets, excessive leaks to exhaust, etc.
5. Internal transmission damage
6. Off-going and on-coming clutch issue
7. Issue with TCM
