Provincial Examination Schedule

Offshore Schools

Important Note:
Before an offshore school can participate in a provincial examination session they must successfully complete
the following within published deadlines in the ‘Chart of Important Dates’ in the 2013-2014 Handbook of
Procedures for the Graduation Program. The Handbook can be accessed at:
www.bced.gov.bc.ca/exams/handbook/

• Obtain Personal Education Numbers (PENs) for all students who plan to write Provincial exams;
• Upload a Transcript and Examinations (TRAX) data submission. This will add the students to the
Ministry’s TRAX system, identify which courses they are taking, and register them for the applicable
exam sessions; and
• Install e-Exam Security Control on each computer to be used for the provincial e-Exams

Please refer to the 2013-2014 Offshore Schools Transcript and Exams Requirements document for more
information. The document can be accessed at www.bced.gov.bc.ca/offshore_schools/

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Exam start and end times must be adhered to by all schools. However, if necessary, schools may begin
an exam up to one hour before the scheduled start time to accommodate local schedule conflicts (e.g., bus
schedules). Students must remain in the supervised exam room for a minimum of one hour after the original
scheduled start time (e.g., begin exam at 12 noon but ensure students do not leave until after 2:00 p.m.).
2. There may be instances when a student needs to write exams that are scheduled in the same time slot. When
this happens, allow the student to write the first exam, receive a suitable supervised break and then write the
second exam.
3. All exams offered will be available electronically only.
4. Translation of Grade 12 exams is determined in September of each year by request from the Conseil scolaire
francophone.
5. All August exams are offered through a student’s school. Students should check with their school prior to the
end of the school year to determine exam registration procedures for their school.
6. The Ministry of Education aims to ensure this exam schedule does not change. Occasionally circumstances
require changes to the exam schedule after it is initially published. Should changes to the exam schedule be
required, the Ministry of Education will communicate these changes and an updated exam schedule will be
sent.
