7 A ship is 70 m long and 10 m broad and has a displacement of 13500 kN. When a 10 3 3
weight of 450 kN is moved 5 m across the deck it inclines the ship 6°. The moment
of inertia of the section of the ship at the water plane about its fore-and-aft axis is 60
% of the moment of inertia of the circumscribing rectangle. The centre of buoyancy
is 2.5 m below the water line. Find the position of the centre of gravity and position
of the metacentre. Specific weight of sea water is 10055 N/𝑚3 .
