ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR TUTORIAL: HOW TO DRAW A HAT AND A

BUTTERFLY

The first step is to create a document to draw on. To do this, go to the menu in the upper left part of the program, then
select File> New .
In the drop-down window, set the length and width to 1000 px and click OK .
Then in the toolbar on the left, select the Rounded Rectangle Tool .
Draw a long rectangle that looks more like a thick line.

As soon as we draw it, blue dots will appear at the corners, pulling one of which, we can round off all the corners of the
shape.
Select our shape and apply Effect> Warp> Arc to it .

In the drop-down window, set the Bend -21% . To see what we are doing, check the Preview box .
Then, with our shape selected, go to the top menu and go to Object> Expand Appearance. Without this action, the
illustration will not pass the check on the stock. You can read more about preparing images for sale on microstock in
this article: how to prepare vector files for sale on microstock.

Then select the shape with the Rectangle Tool . Draw a rectangle. Then go to the toolbar and select the Direct Selection
Tool (white arrow).
Select the top two points of our rectangle and drag the corners.

Select both shapes, placing the top of the hat on the brim, and in the Pathfinder panel select the Unite function .
Now both shapes are one single object, namely the hat. Then we move on to drawing the butterfly. The first step, using
the Rounded Rectangle Tool , draw a rectangle.
Pull the corners to smooth them out.

Then select the Polygon Tool and left-click on an empty space.

Set the number of corners to 3 and click OK .

Select our triangle and select the Reflect Tool , hold down the Alt key on the keyboard and left-click.
In the drop-down window, set the number of degrees to 45 and click OK .
Then we pull the corners, smooth them out.
Select our triangle again and select the Reflect Tool , hold down the Alt key on the keyboard and left-click on the
opposite of the triangle's nose.
Set the number of degrees to 90 and click Copy .
Make a bow of three shapes, select these shapes and select the Unite function in the Pathfinder panel .

The next step is to color in our illustration. I choose the colors on the website color.romanuke.com
Choose a suitable palette, go into it and click on the desired color to copy it.

Go to Illustrator, select the shape and click on a color in the toolbar, paste the copied code for the desired color and
click OK . Using the same principle, we color all the elements of the illustration.
To place the shape in the back, right-click on the shape and choose Arrange> Send to Back .
I use the Super Magic Eraser script to trim the edges .
Our illustration is ready. Thanks for watching this tutorial. I hope you succeeded. Have a nice time of day and success in
your studies.
