Cheats and ne'er-do-wells
Any method of character generation is open to abuse. Simply put, don’t play with cheats.

Probabilty purists
If you are a probability purist and/or strongly believe in a smooth bell curve of probabilities, then
this method is probably not for you. Heck, outside of some anecdotal testing that returns some
plausible stats, I have no idea of the probabilities involved. This method is intended to be a ‘fun’
alternative to character generation.

Introduction
Like rolling dice this method is intended to be a random method. The idea is to spin the wheel and

see where it lands. The idea is not to try and “solve” the cube, to obtain the best result.

Method
1. Jumble the cube thoroughly to generate a random set of faces (don’t try to “solve” the cube)

2. Each central square represents a D&D character stat, i.e.:

= STR
= INT
e = DEX
= CON
pl
= WIZ = CHR
POSITIVE POINTS
3. Each central square = 7 points.

4. Any square that matches the colour of the central square = +2 points

5. Any fancy shapes (see below) that match the colour of the central square = +3 points

6. Any simple shapes (see below) not part of a fancy shape = +1 or +2 points

NEGATIVE POINTS
7. Any fancy shapes (see below) not matching the colour of the central square = —4 points

8. Any simple shapes (see below) not matching the colour of the central square = —2 or 3 points

9. Scores are rounded up to 3 or down to 18.

Optional rules to boost (or even reduce) stats:


OPTION 1 – GET THAT SUPER STAT!
Allow one non-central square to be a different colour. Create new positive colour patterns and/or
break up negative colour patterns (this will probably boost one stat by about +4 to 6 points).

OPTION 2 – TWIST
Allow one twist of the cube. This is one for the real cuber!

OPTION 3 – THE STATS ARE TOO LOW (or HIGH) FOR YOUR GAME/TASTES
See bullet 3, and modify the central square value (i.e. set at 7) up or down by one or two points.

Time
Once you get your eye in, this method is quite quick. In any event, generating player characters
from scratch can be quite time consuming, and so adding a few seconds with this method should be
no big deal.
