PART 1 OF THE FINAL EXAM: WRITING SKILLS EXAM ON CULTURE SHOCK (and a Listening

Comprehension Exam)

THIS IS AN EXPLANATION OF PART I of the final exam. It is worth 20 points, which will be applied to
your total Final Exam score (Part I and Part II). Part II of the Final Exam (which will cover Unit 11
Grammar, Reading, Vocabulary) will take place on Wednesday November 22nd.

Part I Exam Day Instructions: NEXT TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21st, you should have done the above
preparation work, so now in BS Evaluaciones, you will receive these instructions: After watching
the movie “Outsourced” and based on the Five Stages of Culture Shock that we saw in class on
Friday, describe your thoughts in five paragraphs, written ESSAY STYLE, as follows:

Paragraph 1: Why was Todd forced to go to India to work? Todd did not really go through Stage
One of culture shock (the Honeymoon Stage). Why do you think he did not go through the
honeymoon stage?

Paragraph 2: In Todd’s experience, he moved almost immediately into Stage Two: Frustration and
Anxiety. In fact, he often was hostile and irritated toward the Indian culture. Give three examples.

You will write 300-350 words in total on the BS Evaluaciones page. After that, you will do the
