Instructional Video Test Script

Introduction
Hello, my name’s Jonathan, and I’m going to walk you through today’s session. As I mentioned
previously, we are going to conduct a usability test on the instructional video for creating a
discord server, inviting and removing users, and changing the server info. The duration of this
test will take a maximum of 20 minutes but if you need to take a break or stop, please let me
know.
During this session, I’ll start by interviewing you about your basic information and your
technical literacy. Then I’ll ask you to complete some tasks using the instructional video.
As you go about completing the tasks using the instructional video, I’ll ask you to think aloud as
much as possible: to describe what you’re looking at and what you’re trying to do. This will be a
big help.
With your permission, I’d like to record this test. This recording will only be used to help me
figure out how to improve the instructional video and will only be seen by me and perhaps my
instructor.
Warm up
Before we start looking at the instructional video, I’ll ask you some questions about yourself.
How old are you?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your level of expertise with your computer?
With your phone?
Would you say that you live in an urban, suburban, or rural area?
Task Completion
Thank you, we’re done with the questions. Now I’m going to ask you to follow the instructional
video using this scenario:
Imagine that you’re making a server to support fans of your favorite game Pokemon Scarlet, and
you want to let everyone who plays the game join the server.
Now I’m going to ask you to perform a few tasks with the server while still following the
instructional video:
First, please invite me to the Discord server.
Then, please change the name of the server.
Finally, please remove me from the server.
Follow up
We’re now finished with the majority of the test, thank you. Before we conclude the test, I would
like to ask you a few questions about your experience.
First, how would you rate the difficulty of completing the task with the instructional video on a
scale of 1 to 10? Why did you rate it that way?
Do you have any suggestions to improve the instructional video?
Wrap up
Thank you so much for answering those questions, this concludes the usability test.

After that please do the same thing but follow this scenario:
