NAME: Glass

FUNCTION: Glass "absorbs" sound primarily at frequencies

close to its resonance, which is roughly 400Hz. Outside of
this frequency, sound waves are either reflected off the glass
or pass through as vibrational vibrations. Other type of glass
has soundproofing properties, but it’s not suitable for full
professional soundproofing.
APPLICATION: Glass is used as a transparent glazing
component in the building envelope, but it will never be
among the more effective sound-absorbing materials unless
transparent fiberglass is developed. As a result, the project's
aesthetic and acoustical aims are balanced in the final area.

NAME: PLASTIC
FUNCTION: Due of its solidity and cleanliness, plastic
reflects sound. Due to its thickness and lack of pores, it may
reflect between 95% and 100% of all frequency ranges.
Despite the large variety of plastics available, none of them
truly soundproof. If you put soundproof plastic to the window
and another side, you can also use plastics to reduce air-
transmitted noise.
APPLICATION: Plastic is utilized in many different
applications, including insulation, windows, doors, pipes, and
floor coverings. The noise (sound) absorption/reduction
coefficient of plastic, as an acoustic medium, is less than
0.75.
NAME: FIBERGLASS
FUNCTION: Fiberglass is effective for soundproofing
floors, walls, and ceilings in enclosed areas like
recording studios. Besides this, it conducts thermal
isolation, which prevents the movement of heat, cold,
and—in this instance—most crucially, sound.
Fiberglass is ranked between 0.90 and 0.95 in the
NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient), indicating that it
performs admirably when it comes to sound
suppression.
APPLICATIONS: It’s for finishing walls,
ornamentation, wall and ceiling renovation, and fire
protection. The ability of fiberglass to absorb sound
and heat increases with insulation thickness and
density. Fiberglass is a powerful sound barrier that
can significantly lessen the ability of noise to enter or
leave a room.

NAME: ACOUSTIC LOUVERS

FUNCTION: Acoustic louvers use blades made of a
substance that absorbs sound to lower the noise
levels that enter or exit a space. Louvers additionally
enhance the system's noise protection over glass
surfaces, offsetting the negative effects of the
conventional shading devices. Each blade is made up
of an infill of sound-absorbing material contained by
an upper layer of sheet metal and a perforated sheet
underneath.
APPPLICATIONS: It is appropriate for a variety of
projects, including those involving plant rooms,
general ventilation, acoustic screening, and
mechanical plants where airflow is necessary for the
equipment. It can also be used to control mechanical
fan noise.
