ABSTRACT

Women in the workforce earning wages or salary are part of a modern phenomenon, one that developed at
the same time as the growth of paid employment for men, but women have been challenged by inequality
in the workforce. Organizations that don’t realize the importance of women in the workplace are missing
out. Having gender diversity is a boon for any organization. But unfortunately, women in the
organizations are still undervalued. To change this perception, companies need to focus on knowing the
real problem. When we speak about gender equity the first thing that flash is the term “glass ceiling”
which thwarts the women from occupying the senior level positions in the organization. The companies
have to provide the work culture in such a way that it removes the disparity between the gender & it gives
equal opportunity for both men and women to flourish in their own field.

By fostering diversity, building a culture of opportunity and fairness, and focusing their attention on the
broken rung, companies can close their gender gaps—and make progress on the road to equality.

Key Words: Workplace, Gender equity, Glass ceiling, Disparity, work culture, gender gaps.
