Task 1

The chart gives information on the percentage of women going into higher education in five
countries for the years 1980 and 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the percentage of women going into higher education. The data in the
chart is sorted by these criteria’s: country and date.
Firstly, United Kingdom and United States of America have similar percentage in 1980 and
2015. However, in the USA more woman’s preferred to go into colleges which was showed
on the graph as slightly higher values in comparison with UK’s women. In particular, in the
UK 35% of all women went into higher education facilities in 1980 and about 55% in 2015,
but in the USA the percentage was higher by 3% in 2-time intervals.
Secondly, around 60% of Australia’s females, studied into universities in 1980 and 2015.
Moreover, a lot of female identities in South Korea preferred to end their educational journey
right after school, which represented on the graph with the lowest values in comparison with
other countries. In contrast, in France 50% of all women enrolled into universities in 1980
and in 2015 the percentage increased by 5%.
Task 2

Students are becoming more and more reliant on the Internet. While the Internet is
convenient, it has many negative effects and its use for educational purposes should be
restricted.

 Teachers should allow internet to use for searching up the data to base their answers,
as Internet won’t disappear after the school or university.
 Teachers should force students to use more internet to make their own answers as they
will sharpen searching skills, that will be more valuable in the future.

How far do you agree with this statement?

It is argued that students are becoming more and more reliant on the Internet. On one hand,
Internet itself is a convenient tool for many purposes. On the other hand, it has many negative
effects on the students. I strongly believe that the Internet should not be restricted for
educational purposes because, it will exist for a lot of decades and students might develop
some skills that will help stand out in the future.
Firstly, the Internet existence will be for a long time and restrictions of using it might slow
down the educational process, because browsers provide an access to the vast majority of
useful data. Therefore, it is very important for students to show the way, how to make their
own answers based on that data. This will lead to higher excitement during the educational
process as they will have access to the information that they will look for and their answers
grade will be based on the interpretation from the data they searched up. This means that
students might read different works from their classmates and investigate something new for
themselves.
Secondly, as students will use the Internet more frequently, they might find out the pattern
how the search engine works. This means that if the students will search the information
repeatedly in the same search engine, they might gain a new skill which will increase the
accuracy of the results. This will lead to less time spent on searching the needed information
and unique skills. This ability will help to stand out from others in the future when the former
student will apply for the job.
Based on all evidence, the use of Internet should not be restricted during the educational
process if the educational facility wants to give their students’ knowledge that will be
valuable in the future and make them competitive on the job market.
