Olympic City

Farafra Oasis is a natural oasis located in the Western Desert of Egypt, approximately 627
kilometers southwest of Cairo. It is known for its beautiful sceneries and geological formations,
including the White Desert. The oasis has around 100 wells that were used for irrigation and are
now popular tourist destinations. Some of the most famous wells in Farafra Oasis are Bir Sitta,
Bir Sab'a, and Bir Ithnian Wa Ishrin. The wells are known for their warm temperatures and are
great for relaxation and swimming. The area also has a large lake and a well called Abu Nus. The
oasis has irrigated groves of date palms, citrus, apricot, olive, and carob trees. The most common
way to reach Farafra Oasis is by road, either through private car or public transportation. There
are two possible routes to take: from the north, passing through Bahariya Oasis, or from the
south, passing through Kharga and Dakhla Oases. If you're starting from Cairo, it's a 550-
kilometer journey that takes just over 6 hours to travel. Private tours and guides are also
available for those who prefer a more personalized experience. Once in Farafra, visitors can
explore the oasis and its attractions, such as the White Desert, hot springs, and wells. There are
also hotels and camping options available for those who wish to stay overnight.

The White Desert is a national park located in the Western Desert of Egypt, about 570 kilometers
southwest of Cairo. It is a unique and stunning natural attraction that covers an area of about
3,010 square kilometers and is part of the Farafra Depression. The desert gets its name from the
white chalk rock formations that cover the desert floor, which have been sculpted by wind
erosion and resemble mushrooms, chicken legs, and other interesting shapes. The White Desert
is home to a variety of unique plant and animal species, including desert foxes, sand cats, and
Egyptian vultures. The area is also known for its stunning night sky, which is free from light
pollution and offers incredible stargazing opportunities. Visitors can explore the White Desert
and its attractions, such as the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, and Twin Peaks. Activities range
from dune bashing and sandboarding to mountain biking and kayaking in the nearby Bahariya
Oasis. The White Desert is a must-visit destination for those who want to experience the beauty
and wonder of Egypt's natural landscapes.

Water station means a facility for supplying potable water to the water storage tanks of
trailers or other potable water containers. Most of the Desert's fresh water is underground,
and is tapped by various human, plant and wildlife communities for sustenance.
4. Electric stations
Using natural sources such as the sun, wind and tides we can create energy without
creating so much pollution.
5. College Services: The College of the Desert offers various services to its
students, including academic support, career counseling, and financial aid
assistance.

Olympic games:
In the hypothetical scenario of establishing an Olympic city in El Wadi Elgdeed, also known as
the White Desert in Egypt, several Olympic games can be adapted to suit the unique
characteristics of this desert landscape. The following is a list of various Olympic games that
could be played in El Wadi Elgdeed, along with descriptions of each game and how they would
be suitable for this desert setting:
1. Marathon: The marathon is a long-distance running race that covers a distance of 42.195
kilometers (26.2 miles). El Wadi Elgdeed's vast and open desert terrain provides an ideal
backdrop for hosting a marathon event.
Participants would have the opportunity to
run through the stunning white sand dunes
and experience the challenging yet
captivating landscape of the desert.

2. Sandboarding: Sandboarding is a sport similar to snowboarding but performed on sand

dunes instead of snow-covered slopes. El
Wadi Elgdeed's extensive sand dunes offer
the perfect environment for sandboarding
competitions. Athletes would showcase their
skills by gliding down the slopes,
performing tricks, and demonstrating their
agility on the sandy terrain.

3. Desert Triathlon: A desert

triathlon could be designed specifically
for El Wadi Elgdeed, incorporating
elements that highlight the unique
features of the White Desert. This
triathlon could consist of three stages: a
swimming leg in one of the oasis lakes
or pools found within the desert, a
cycling leg through the desert trails, and a running leg across the sand dunes. This multi-
discipline event would test athletes' endurance and adaptability to different terrains.
4. Archery: Archery is an ancient sport that
involves shooting arrows at a target using a bow.
In El Wadi Elgdeed, archery could be adapted to
take advantage of the vast open spaces and natural
rock formations found in the desert. Archers
would aim at targets placed strategically among
the dunes or even shoot at specific rock
formations, adding an element of precision and
challenge to the sport.

5. Sand Volleyball: Sand volleyball is a variant of traditional indoor volleyball played on

sand courts. El Wadi Elgdeed's sandy terrain
lends itself perfectly to hosting sand volleyball
tournaments. The soft sand provides a natural
cushioning effect, reducing the risk of injuries
and allowing players to dive and move more
freely. The desert backdrop would create a
unique atmosphere for spectators and players
alike.

6. Camel Racing: Camel racing is a traditional sport in many desert regions, including Egypt.
In El Wadi Elgdeed, camel racing could be
incorporated into the Olympic games,
showcasing the cultural heritage of the area.
Participants would compete in races across
the desert, riding camels and demonstrating
their horsemanship skills.
7. Desert Orienteering: Orienteering is a sport that involves navigating through unfamiliar
terrain using a map and compass. Desert orienteering in El Wadi Elgdeed would challenge
participants to navigate through the intricate
network of sand dunes, rock formations, and
oasis areas. This game would test both physical
endurance and mental agility as athletes strive to
find their way through the desert landscape.

8. Sand Sculpture Competition: A sand sculpture competition could be organized in El

Wadi Elgdeed, where participants create intricate sculptures using the fine white sand found in
the desert. This artistic event would allow participants to showcase their creativity while
incorporating elements inspired
by the surrounding desert
environment. These are just a few
examples of Olympic games that
could be adapted and played in El
Wadi Elgdeed's White Desert.
Each game takes advantage of the
unique characteristics of this
desert landscape, offering athletes
and spectators an unforgettable
experience amidst the stunning
beauty of the Egyptian desert.
