Ecolibrium
“Ecolibrium” stands as a testament to the essence of economics—a dynamic interplay of societal forces meticulously
deciphered by economists. As the cornerstone of IIFT Economics Society (IES), it illuminates the juncture where
theoretical tenets meet pragmatic realities. With a resolute objective to empower students and bridge the chasm
between concepts and their real-world applications, “Ecolibrium” emerges as a platform for their voices to resonate.
Within its pages lies a curated tapestry of insights, capturing the pulse of ever-evolving economic landscapes. Much
like IES itself, this annual magazine serves as a compass, keeping students in stride with the avant-garde strides in the
realm of economics.
1st Edition
The inaugural edition of “Ecolibrium,” a prodigious culmination of the industrious efforts by the Department
of M.A. Economics students, made its debut in 2018. Envisioned as a contemplative exploration, it directed
its spotlight towards two global economic behemoths, India and China. Imbued with the purpose of affording
readers a panoramic view of the economic and political tapestry enshrouding these two titans, the magazine
delves into their profound integration into the world economy.
2nd Edition
In this edition of the magazine, profound scrutiny is cast upon the intricate structural challenges that entwine
the Indian economy. With a discerning eye, fault lines are meticulously dissected, and solutions tendered in
pursuit of rectification. This endeavor is poised to broaden the readers’ vistas, rendering a comprehensive
panorama of the Indian economic landscape. As a counterpoint to the era of distorted information, the
magazine stands as a bastion of substantiated verity, anchoring its readers in a realm of solid facts and
informed discourse.
3rd Edition
The theme “US-Protectionism-Beggar Thy Neighbour” seamlessly aligns with this endeavor, offering IIFT
students a chance to fortify their understanding of economics and its interconnections. The IES team aspires
for this magazine to surpass reader expectations, offering an apt perspective on the current global events
and their economic implications.
11
4th Edition
The focus of this issue is on the underlying structural challenges within the Indian economy, which have been
further amplified by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. As the world strives to bounce back from the
pandemic’s effects, India too aims to rejuvenate its economy with a hopeful perspective, fostering growth.
5th Edition
The fifth edition of “Ecolibrium” offers a contemporary and comprehensive exploration of the economics
of war. With its incisive analysis, the magazine holds immense value for both scholars and avid learners. It
presents a unique perspective on the intricate interplay between economics and warfare, provoking fresh
contemplation. Through its pages, readers gain insight into the historical origins, underlying causes, as well as
the nuanced micro and macro-economic consequences of war. The magazine also casts light on the complex
phenomenon of war profiteering, making for an enlightening and captivating read.
6th Edition
In the 6th edition of Ecolibrium, the magazine explores the profound impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
AI has ushered in transformations across sectors, from healthcare to finance. As AI extends its influence
to unconventional domains like video game design and marketing, this edition examines the promises and
challenges it presents. This edition provides an in-depth analysis of AI’s role in various economic aspects,
including global supply chains, the future of manufacturing, and its impact on international trade. Furthermore,
it explores the potential consequences of AI on societal disparities, offering readers a comprehensive
perspective on this evolving landscape.

At IIFT, with an extensive, rigorous, and involving coursework, we learned the foundation of
economic theories and applications from the best of the respective fields. We developed
the skills to address any economic model with the help of mathematical and statistical tools
and learnt to build models with theoretical underpinnings and carry out empirical analysis
handling large sets of data, simultaneously.

Batch of 2020-22
The Masters in Economics programme at IIFT is truly one of a kind that focuses on advanced
topics in macroeconomics and microeconomics as well as gives an opportunity to tailor the
programme as per one’s interest in either finance or trade. Having chosen my specialisation in
finance, electives like derivatives and risk management, empirical issues in trade theory and
advanced econometrics helped me kickstart my corporate career as an associate solution
advisor at Deloitte USI. I am extremely grateful to the faculty at IIFT for all the learning, hands
on projects and assignments which makes the understanding of theoretical knowledge so
much better. The econometric concepts and technical skills used in the projects come in
handy even today. Lastly, this course has not only paved the path for mycorporate journey
but also shaped me into a better and more confident individual.
