Next, Hydrogen (H2) is generated through methods like water electrolysis, which
splits water into hydrogen and oxygen, or Steam Methane Reforming (SMR),
which extracts Hydrogen (H2) from natural gas. The key to this process is the
chemical reaction between CO2 and H2, facilitated by a catalyst, to produce
Ethanol (C2H5OH) and water. This reaction is known as Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
Then the Ethanol separated from the reaction mixture, and any remaining water
is removed through dehydration.
The final Ethanol product can be stored and distributed for various applications,
including as a bio fuel or for use in the chemical industry
Objective(3-4 bullet Here are the project objective points for a project focused on making Ethanol
points): from CO2:
Uniqueness/Novelty: The project of making ethanol from CO2 is unique and significant for several
reasons:
1. Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU)
2. Green Energy Generation
3. Circular Economy
4. Reduced Dependence on Fossil Fuels
5. Carbon Offset and Emission Reduction
6. Technological Innovation
7. Diversified Energy Sources
8. Commercial and Economic Potential
9. Global Relevance
