COUNTRY: North Korea
COMMITTEE: Historical Security Council

“The revolution is carried out by means of one’s thought “.

-Kim Jong Un
North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, is a country in East Asia As a
result of its isolation, North Korea is sometimes known as the "hermit kingdom". Initially, North
Korea had diplomatic ties with only other communist countries.
Glancing through the US intervention which started off in 2003 and still continues.
In 2003, the United States led a controversial invasion of Iraq, which was based on flawed
intelligence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and links to al-Qaeda. U.S. forces in Iraq
peaked at 170,000 soldiers. In 2011, the U.S. had withdrawn most of its troops from Iraq, and
later kept 20,000 employees in its embassy and consulates, including dozens of U.S. Marine
Embassy Guards and approximately 4,500 private military contractors.

In 2013, the U.S. resumed flying surveillance aircraft in order to collect intelligence about fighters
targeting the Iraqi government.
 The political and diplomatic relations between North Korea and the United States have
been historically hostile. 2017 denoted a noteworthy ascent of pressures and enhanced
talk from the two sides as Donald Trump took the administration, after it gave the idea
that North Korea's atomic weapons program was developing at a quicker rate.
The following are more reasons for the rift:

 China, Japan, the USSR and the US have all occupied the Korean peninsula, and this has
led to resentment towards foreign powers in general.
 Despite the fact that the US assisted in freeing Korea from the royal Japanese standard, it
is affirmed that the US didn't destroy the power structure and inconveniences set by
Japan, yet rather proceeded with them. North Korea saw the US as a substitution for
Japan, which was seen as entrepreneur and radical.
 The circumstance weakened further with the North Korean attack of South Korea in 1950
(the start of the Korean War), which prompted US countering. The US forced monetary
approvals against North Korea under the Trading with the Enemy Act (TWEA) that
proceeded until 2008.
 War recollections are difficult to overlook. Regardless of the Korean War being started by
North Korea, the US is blamed for supposed war abominations, for example, abusing the
tenets of war, taking estimates prompting excruciating and unbearable passing's, and
monstrous bombings that wiped out over 10% of the North Korean non-military personnel
populace.
 North Korean citizens’ low standard of living is blamed on the US and its sanctions against
North Korea.
 Rehashed sporadic occasions, for example, the Internet power outage in North Korea,
supposedly by the US in countering for a North Korean hacking endeavor into Sony
Pictures, have likewise filled enemy of US notion in North Korea.
Animosity between two countries is quite common across the globe. The exceptional instance of
North Korea and the US is an outrageous one, owing to the long period of continued conflicts
despite the geographical distance between the two nations. History, current geopolitical realities,
and political alliances add to the strained relationship between North Korea and the US.
 In recent times, the first summit between North Korea and United States failed to renew
the ongoing conflicts between United States and North Korea.
The political relations of North Korea and Iraq were comparatively quite better than that of US.

 The diplomatic relations between North Korea and Iraq started on 9 July 1968, but were
cut on 10 October 1980 after Iran–Iraq War. It was when North Korea extended a support
to Iran. Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Iraq re-established relations on 29
September 2008.

The brutal acts by the United States has resulted in Iraq’s devastating state. Thereby, North
Korea stands antagonistic to the United states and stands by Iraq.
