PROBLEM STATEMENT

XYZ Ltd (a large manufacturing firm based out of Eastern

India) wants to launch an e-commerce venture in the
packet tea segment. This is primarily an attempt to
diversify to other sectors and de-risk from the metals
business which is heavily cyclical in nature. Post the
pandemic, most FMCG players started ramping up the
online channels mostly due to change in shopping
behavior of consumers and the segment also saw a
significant traction.

Given the proximity of the organization to the source of

raw materials ( primarily in the States of Assam and
West Bengal), XYZ has approached us to advise them
whether to go/ not go for this venture. Please explain
what XYZ should consider for taking this decision.
