7447 BCD To 7 Segment Display
7447 BCD To 7 Segment Display
Equipment:
- Breadboard - 4 DIP Switch
- Jumper wires - 4pcs – 1k Ohm Resistors
- 7447 Chip - 7pcs – 470 Ohm Resistors
- 7 Segment Display - 6 bolt power supply
Breadboard Tool used for prototyping and testing electronic circuits without soldering.
Flexible wires with connectors at each end, used to create electrical connections
Jumper Wires
on a breadboard or in electronic projects.
7-Segment decoder or driver IC (integrated circuit), commonly used to convert
7447 Chip
binary-coded decimal into signals that can drive a 7-segment display.
7-Segment Visual representation of numbers and some letters, commonly used to show
Display numerical values in electronic projects.
4 DIP Switch Used for configuring or selecting binary options in electronic circuits.
1k Ohm Resistance of 1 kilo-ohm each, used to limit current or divide voltage in
Resistors electronic circuit.
470 Ohm Resistance or 460 ohms each, used in electronic circuit for specific resistance or
Resistors current-limiting applications.
6 Bolt Power
Refers to a power source providing six bolts.
Supply
First placing the switch, 7447 Chip, then the 7 Segment Display
The 4 DIP Switch has 8 total pins
Next, we will connect the 7447 Chip to the 7 Segment display, note that all of this connection will
have their own 470 Ohm current limiting resistors. Starting by the pin 15 of the chip to the pin 9 of the
display, pin 14 to the pin 10 of the display, pin 13 of the chip to the pin 7 of the display, pin 12 of the
chip to the pin 8 of display, pin 11 of the chip to pin 4 of the display, pin 10 of the switch to the pin 2 of
display, and pin 9 of the chip to the pin 1 of the display.
