Project: Speedometer Analysis for Indian Railways

• Microprocessor Based Energy & Speed Monitoring System (ESMON) for use in Indian
Railways for Traction Application.
• This can be compared to Flight Data Recorder of an Aircraft which records all the
parameters of aircraft during flight.
• ESMON records certain parameters as specified in the respective specifications, viz.,
instantaneous speed, date, time, odometer reading, breaking and coasting details,
Electrical Energy parameters (in case of EMU/MEMU and Electric locomotives), driver
(motorman) behavior etc.
• This data is recorded in the external media as well as the internal memory of the ESMON.
