    LW: DNA extraction from a plant material

    Material

    - Test tube
    - Frozen alcohol
    - Kiwi/ banana/ strawberry
    - Salt
    - Soap
    - Mortar
    - Erlenmeyer
    - Gaze
    - Funnel
    - Knife
    - Cutting board
    - Beaker
    - Spatula
    - Glass rod
    - Ziplog bag

    Prepare your fruit mush


    - Peel your kiwis and chop into small pieces
    - Add the chopped up kiwi to the mortar and mush it up using a few ml of distilled water.
    - Add a spatula of salt and few drops of soap to the mixture.
    - Filtrate your preparation using the funnel, gaze and the Erlenmeyer flask (beaker)
    - Leave at room temperature for about 2 minutes

    - Pour a few ml of the filtrate in a test tube

    - Carefully pour the alcohol down the side of the glass using a pipette

    - Let stand to produce precipitate

    - Use a glass rod to carefully roll out a strand of DNA
