SDAs are offshoots from Millerism.

Because the "PROBLEM" of false teachers and false teachings exist, the God of the Bible
Narrative gave "PROMISES" to believers that they'd be taught in truth.

Problem:
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe
him. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to
deceive, if possible, the elect.” (Mark 13:21-22, NET)

Promise:
“You will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end
will be saved.” (Mark 13:13, NET)

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. “But as for that day or
hour no one knows it – neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son – except the Father. Watch
out! Stay alert! For you do not know when the time will come.” (Mark 13:31-33, NET)

“Now this is the promise that he himself made to us: eternal life. These things I have written
to you about those who are trying to deceive you. Now as for you, the anointing that you
received from him resides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But as his
anointing teaches you about all things, it is true and is not a lie. Just as it has taught you, you
reside in him.” (1 John 2:25-27, NET)

“Children, it is the last hour, and just as you heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many
antichrists have appeared. We know from this that it is the last hour. They went out from us,
but they did not really belong to us, because if they had belonged to us, they would have
remained with us. But they went out from us to demonstrate that all of them do not belong to
us. Nevertheless you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all KNOW. I have not
written to you that you do not KNOW THE TRUTH, but that YOU DO KNOW IT, and that NO
LIE IS OF THE TRUTH.” (1 John 2:18-21, NET)

The Bible Narrative uses "Problems" to remind us to exercise faith in Bible "Promises."

There is a promise that the Bible prophets are reliable and that the day star would arise in
the heart of believers.

“Moreover, we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing. You do well if you
pay attention to this as you would to a light shining in a murky place, until the DAY DAWNS
and the morning STAR RISES IN YOUR HEARTS. Above all, you do well if you recognize
this: No prophecy of scripture ever comes about by the prophet’s own imagination, for no
prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit
spoke from God.” (2 Peter 1:19-21, NET)
Even though we have this Promise, what is the problem?

“But false prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.
These false teachers will infiltrate your midst with destructive heresies, even to the point of
denying the Master who bought them. As a result, they will bring swift destruction on
themselves. And many will follow their debauched lifestyles. Because of these false
teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. And in their greed they will exploit you with
deceptive words. Their condemnation pronounced long ago is not sitting idly by; their
destruction is not asleep.” (2 Peter 2:1-3, NET)

From this, we see that the fulfilment of certain "Promises" can be hindered by certain
"Problems."
And according to the Bible narrative, in the midst of "Problems," believers can find hope in
Bible "Promises."

Problem:
“But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of
themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed
to what is good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God.
They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So
avoid people like these.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5, NET)

“Now in fact all who want to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. But evil
people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived
themselves.” (2 Timothy 3:12-13, NET)

“For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their
own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable
curiosity to hear new things. And they will turn away from hearing the truth, but on the other
hand they will turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4, NET)

Promise:
“You, however, must continue in the things you have learned and are confident about. You
know who taught you and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are
able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:14-15,
NET)

According to Ellen White and the other "Millerites", those who rejected the Shut Door Theory,
had no more salvation... Unless your name was William Miller, (the leader of the Millerites)
according to Ellen White in EW 258.1; 258.2;

The thing is, William Miller was an elder to a young 16 year old Ellen Gould Harmon, who
was about to turn 17 on November 27, 1844. She was still a 16 year old teenager on
October 22nd 1844. In Early Writings pages 256-258, Ellen White implied that William Miller
was deceived by other minds. William Miller's 35 pages of "apology" seemed to indicate that
he knew exactly why he was saying what he was saying, and in so doing, the Millerite's
leader appealed to "honesty" in confessing his public doctrinal errors.

Ellen White said:

"At length William Miller raised his voice against the light from heaven. He failed in not
receiving the message which would have fully explained his disappointment and cast a light
and glory on the past, which would have revived his exhausted energies, brightened his
hope, and led him to glorify God." (EW 257.1)

Ellen White had so little trust in the power of her God, that she thought and taught, that the
only way that her God could have protected William Miller from doctrinal error, was in the
grave... She said that:
"God suffered him to fall under the power of Satan, the dominion of death, and hid him in the
grave from those who were constantly drawing him from the truth." .."But angels watch the
precious dust of this servant of God, and he will come forth at the sound of the last trump."
(EW 258.2)

According to Ellen White, who was responsible for William Miller's rejection of her teachings?

"He leaned to human wisdom instead of divine, but being broken with arduous labor in his
Master's cause and by age, he was not as accountable as those who kept him from the truth.
They are responsible; the sin rests upon them." (EW 257.1)
"Others led him to this; others must account for it." EW 258.2

Ellen White almost made it seem like William Miller had no mind to think for himself.
According to Ellen White's Great Controversy, what was William Miller's mental abilities like?

"William Miller possessed strong mental powers, disciplined by thought and study; and he
added to these the wisdom of heaven by connecting himself with the Source of wisdom. He
was a man of sterling worth, who could not but command respect and esteem wherever
integrity of character and moral excellence were valued. Uniting true kindness of heart with
Christian humility and the power of self-control, he was attentive and affable to all, ready to
listen to the opinions of others and to weigh their arguments. Without passion or excitement
he tested all theories and doctrines by the word of God, and his sound reasoning and
thorough knowledge of the Scriptures enabled him to refute error and expose falsehood."
GC 335.2

With the same abilities mentioned in page 335 of Great Controversy:

"At length William Miller raised his voice against the light from heaven." (EW 257.1)

Ellen White calls her teachings light from heaven. But the question is, which angel gave her
a false prophecy that time was almost over and that they only had a few months again
before it was over? (EW 64-67)

“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no
great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end
shall be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15, KJV)
"William Miller had no sympathy with those influences that led to fanaticism." GC 396.2

What did Miller have to say which showed that he clearly rejected Ellen White and all the so
called "light" that they taught?

On August 1st, 1845, he confessed:

"We expected the personal coming of Christ at that time; and now to contend that we were
not (1)MISTAKEN, is DISHONEST. We should never be ashamed FRANKLY to confess our
(1)ERRORS. I have no confidence in any of the new theories that grew out of that
movement, namely, that (2)Christ then came as the BRIDEGROOM, (3)that the DOOR OF
MERCY WAS CLOSED, (4)that there is NO SALVATION FOR SINNERS, (5)that the seventh
trumpet then sounded, or that it was a (6)FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY IN ANY SENSE."

"The *calling of all churches* , that do not embrace the doctrine of the advent, *Babylon* , I
before remarked, was the means of our not being listened to with candor; and also, that I
regarded it as *a perversion of Scripture* . This I think all will see who compare Revelation
14 and 18., and observe the chronology of the fall of Babylon." WMAD 30.2

"When the churches spurned the counsel of God by rejecting the Advent message, the Lord
rejected them. The first angel was followed by a second, proclaiming, “Babylon is fallen, is
fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her
fornication.” [Revelation 14:8] This message was understood by Adventists to be an
announcement of the moral fall of the churches in consequence of their rejection of the first
message. The proclamation, “Babylon is fallen,” was given in the summer of 1844, and as
the result, about fifty thousand withdrew from these churches." 4SP 232.1

"The term Babylon, derived from Babel, and signifying confusion, is applied in Scripture to
the various forms of false or apostate religion. But the message announcing the fall of
Babylon must apply to some religious body that was once pure, and has become corrupt. It
cannot be the Romish Church which is here meant; for that church has been in a fallen
condition for many centuries. But how appropriate the figure as applied to the Protestant
churches, all professing to derive their doctrines from the Bible, yet divided into almost
innumerable sects. The unity for which Christ prayed does not exist. Instead of one Lord,
one faith, one baptism, there are numberless conflicting creeds and theories. Religious faith
appears so confused and discordant that the world know not what to believe as truth. God is
not in all this; it is the work of man,—the work of Satan." 4SP 232.2

The following statements from Ellen White, will prove that William Miller's statements were
directly addressing Ellen White and others who believed and taught the same as Ellen
White. Do you remember when we looked at the Ellen White statements, which purported
that Ellen White's God directed and hid errors on the 1843 prophetic charts. It was false, but
her God wanted it to be as false as it was:
"I have SEEN that the 1843 chart was DIRECTED BY THE HAND OF THE LORD, and that
it should not be altered; that the FIGURES WERE AS HE WANTED THEM; that HIS HAND
was over and HID A MISTAKE in some of the figures, so that none could see it, until His
hand was removed." {Early Writings, 74.1}

What was error in EW 74.1, was now correct, in EW 232.2 and EW 243.2. it was now
"Correctness" without a mistake:

"I SAW that God was in the proclamation of the TIME in 1843. It was HIS DESIGN to arouse
the people and bring them to a testing point, where they should decide for or against the
truth. Ministers were convinced of the (1)CORRECTNESS of the positions taken on the
PROPHETIC PERIODS, and some renounced their pride, and left their salaries and their
churches to go forth from place to place to give the message." EW 232.2

"Jesus did not come to the earth as the waiting, joyful company expected, to cleanse the
sanctuary by purifying the earth by fire. I saw that they were (1)CORRECT IN THEIR
RECKONING of the prophetic periods; prophetic time closed in 1844, and Jesus entered the
most holy place to cleanse the sanctuary at the ending of the days." EW 243.2

What was correct in EW 232.2 and EW 243.2 was now a Mistake, which needed to be
corrected in 4SP 248.2:

(1)"In the summer of 1844, Adventists discovered the MISTAKE in their FORMER
RECKONING of the prophetic periods, and settled upon the CORRECT position." 4SP 248.2

And again, what was a mistake in EW 74.1, was correct in EW 232.2 & EW 243.2, then
incorrect in 4SP 248.2 to be corrected, then was again "Correct" in GC 429.2 without error:

"They now saw that they were (1)CORRECT in believing that the end of the 2300 days in
1844 marked an important crisis." GC 429.2

This is exactly what William Miller meant when he said:

"...and now to contend that we were not (1)MISTAKEN, is dishonest. We should never be
ashamed frankly to confess our (1)ERRORS..." (William Miller's "Apology and Defence")

In other words, William Miller, who Ellen White had much to say about, didn't view her as the
most honest person. What Miller humbly confessed as errors, Ellen White continued to
preach as "light" "truth," "right," "without error."

"I have the most precious matter to reproduce and place before the people in testimony
form. While I am able to do this work, the people must have these things to revive past
history, that they may see that there is one straight CHAIN OF TRUTH, WITHOUT ONE
HERETICAL SENTENCE, in that which I have written. This, I am instructed, is to be a living
letter to all in regard to my faith. 20LtMs, Lt 329a, 1905, par. 3

The challenge is, that it's her word vs William Miller's word. Her character vs William Miller's
character. What was his character like?
"An UPRIGHT, HONEST-HEARTED farmer, who had been led to doubt the divine authority
of the Scriptures, yet who sincerely desired to know the truth, was the man specially chosen
of God to lead out in the proclamation of Christ's second coming." CIHS 70.1

(6)"..Miller and his associates FULFILLED PROPHECY and gave a message which
Inspiration had foretold should be given to the world.." GC 405.2

"The proclamation, “Behold, the (2)BRIDEGROOM cometh,” in the summer of 1844, led
thousands to expect the immediate advent of the Lord. At the appointed time the
(2)BRIDEGROOM came, not to the earth, as the people expected, but to the Ancient of
Days in heaven, to the marriage, the reception of His kingdom." GC 427.1

"Having given the warning of the judgment near, they felt that their work for the world was
done, and they lost their burden of soul for the salvation of sinners, while the bold and
blasphemous scoffing of the ungodly seemed to them another evidence that the Spirit of
God had been withdrawn from the rejecters of His mercy. All this confirmed them in the belief
that (4)probation had ended, or, as they then expressed it, (3) “THE DOOR OF MERCY
WAS SHUT.” GC 429.1

On August 1st, 1845, he confessed:

were not MISTAKEN, is dishonest. We should never be ashamed frankly to confess our
ERRORS. I have no confidence in any of the new theories that grew out of that movement,

WAS CLOSED, (4)that there is no salvation for sinners, (5)that the seventh trumpet then
sounded, or that it was a (6)FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY IN ANY SENSE." (Pages 28-30

William Miller was humble enough to admit that he was in error and expressed his view that
all of the new views, like the 1844 shut door, and investigative judgment was not worthy of
his confidence, nor was it honest. That was an humble and honest man.

The person who first wrote out the 1844 Shut Door, Investigative Judgment teaching, ORL
Crozier, HUMBLY discarded his old teachings and admitted:
"On account of our ignorance of the scriptures my argument was more fully and more widely
accepted than it deserved to be."

Concerning the false dates, and false predictions, Ellen White said:

"I have SEEN that the 1843 chart was DIRECTED BY THE HAND OF THE LORD, and that
it should not be altered; that the FIGURES WERE AS HE WANTED THEM; that HIS HAND
was over and HID A MISTAKE in some of the figures, so that none could see it, until His
hand was removed." {Early Writings, 74.1}

EGW was saying that she saw in vision, that God directed false dates, and hid those false
dates with His hand. According to the Bible narrative, was God ever the Author of Lies? Or is
He always the Author of truth?

“That by two immutable things, in which it was IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE, we might
have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth
into that WITHIN THE VEIL; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an
high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.” (Hebrews 6:18-20, KJV)

If one claims to believe the Bible narrative, then one would definitely have to admit that long
before 1844, the Bible writer of Hebrews was teaching that Messiah entered the Most Holy
Place "within the veil" before 70AD, which is over 1774 years before 1844 AD.

Between 1844 and 1851, the Millerite movement also believed that the Sunday law was
going to pass within that time. This is why Ellen White predicted:

"In a view given June 27, 1850, my accompanying angel said, “Time is almost finished." EW
64.1

"But now "time is almost finished," and what we have been YEARS learning, they will have
to learn in a FEW MONTHS." EW 67.2

The years Ellen White was speaking about, was actually:

September 1842 to June 27, 1850.
(7years and 9months)

"A few months" turned out to be:

June 27, 1850 to July 16, 1915.
(65years and 19days. 1915 was the year of Ellen White's death, though her accompanying
angel, gave her the impression in 1850, that there were only a few months left for time to be
over.)

Bear in mind that these "few months" are still counting on a daily basis. June 27, 2023,
would make a "few months" equate to 173 years since her statement.

Accurate Prophecy or not?

Which "accompanying angel" (EW 64.1) was speaking to her, telling her that "time was
almost finished?"
