DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MAPEH 9

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. Discuss strategies in the prevention and control of substance use
and abuse.
b. Apply decision-making and resistance skills in situations related to
substance use and abuse.
c. Describe healthful alternatives to substance use and abuse.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
TOPIC: PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF SUBSTANCE USE AND
ABUSE
Reference: grade-9 module (P.E & HEALTH) page 308-316
Materials: visual aids, Manila paper, marker pen, envelope.
III. PROCEDURE

our topic for this morning is all about prevention
and control of substance use and abuse.

➢ Substance Abuse Prevention, also known


as drug abuse prevention, it’s a process
that
attempts to prevent the onset of substance use or
limit the development of problems associated
with using psycho active's substances.

➢ And so at the end of our lesson you should


be able to attain the following:

again into 3 and will give each group a task.
Each group will be given a topic to discuss.
They will be given 5 minutes to prepare and
discuss with their group mates and 5 (students will be grouped)
minutes to present their report to the class.

❖ GROUP 1 – While walking home, from school,


a stranger approaches you and offers

❖ GROUP 2- One day while walking down the
school corridor, you notice your classmate bring
out a small plastic bags with dried weeds. He is
selling the drugs to some students. You know that
the kid is known bully and anyone who gets in his
way will mean trouble.
❖ GROUP 3 –You are having a group review at the
house of one of your classmates. The parents
are not there to supervise your activity. While
reviewing one of your classmates open a pack of
something and melt it on a piece of foil.
Everybody smokes the substance. You are asked
to try even just once to experience it.

V. GENERALIZATION

 Prevention is the best way for people like you to


avoid the use and abuse of drugs. People
should understand the different protective
factors and risk factors. Protective factors should
be enhanced while risk factors should be
avoided and dropped for good. That is why we
need to make strategies in prevention and
control of substance use and abuse, like
decision-making and resistance skills.

2. What will you do if you found out that your classmate has a problem
with drugs?
VII. ASSIGNMENT
➢ In the same group. Create your own armor shield against drug use, abuse and
dependence. Be very creative. Simple drawings will suffice. Your armor shield will
look like an emblem. Put it in a ¼ illustration board.
