against Trafficking in Persons

Madam,
Department of Women & Child Development & Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal in partnership
with UNICEF is going to organize a state consultation on the "Use and Abuse of Technology''on 30s July,
2O2Ztoobserve the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons at Hotel Tai Bengal (Portico Plus Banquet),
34 B, Belvedere Road, Kolkata, 7OOA27 from 10.00 a.m.- 2.00 p.m. followed by lunch.

The theme of this year's Wortd Day against Trafficking in Persons is"lJse and Abuse of
Technology". With the global expansion in the use of technology - intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic
and the shift of our everyday life to online platforms - the crime of human trafficking has conquered cyber
space. lt is important that awareness is generated on the dangers associated with online
platforms, the
encouraging vigilance and reporting and to gain support for prevention of
safety standards in cyber space,
human trafficking. The consultation will be attended by the District officials, Professors/Lecturers of
colleges and universities and civil society organisations'

Dr. Shashi panja, Honourable Minister of the State, Department of Women and Child Development
&
Social Welfare has kindly consented to address the Consultation'
