* My Strange Family
I love my dad. I love my mom. I even love my brother, Tom. We are a strange family. We act and dress a
little funny. But being strange is really okay. We have fun when we play. Mom wears flowers in her hair. She
wears long black underwear. Dad wears a necklace made of rocks. He wears pink and orange socks. He
doesn’t ever use a chair. He wears a feather in his hair. Tom wears pets on his arm. He looks like he’s from
a farm. We dance at night in our backyard. Dad wears funny disco pants.
Mom cooks well. She likes to bake. She makes food like pizza cake. When my brother goes to school, all of

I felt happy to know the strange family. Because everybody in the book acts and
dresses funny. Mom puts on flowers in her hair. Dad wears funny disco pants.
His socks do not fit. Her brother wears pets on his body. In school, he is well-liked.
The girl also talks about her aunt’s family and grandparents. Her aunt’s family lives in the jungle and her
grandparents work in the zoo. It must be exciting to stay with the strange family.
* Bouncing Balls
Bob is my buddy. He’s a good friend. Yesterday, he turned ten. We all went to Bob’s black house. Bob’s
butler was a mouse.
In his house lived many cats. On the ceiling were black bats. These were not like baseball bats. They had
vampire teeth like cats.
Bob’s mom baked big, black cakes. And she gave him a few pet snakes.
Bob got many gifts from cats. I gave him a new toy car. But the best ones came from bats. They gave Bob
a big surprise. I could not believe my eyes! The bats gave him bouncing balls. We bounced then, bounced
them through the halls.
We went bouncing out the door. In the yard we bounced some more. We bounced the balls around town.
We shocked mean, old Mrs. Brown.
We bounced low and we bounced high. Bluebirds watched as we bounced by.
Bouncing, bouncing to a ball. Bouncing round the shopping mall. We bounced up and we bounced down.
We bounced around the town. We bounced and bounced and bounced some more. And then we bounced
right out the door. Then our balls began to pop. It was time for us to stop. Next time we want to bounce
with you. Come to Bob’s tomorrow at two!
1. It’s about Bob and the funny things he got for his birthday.
2. Bob’s friends went to his birthday party.
3. He lived in a black house with many animals.
4. The friends met many strange animals at Bob’s.
5. Bob’s mom gave him big and black cakes.
6. Every boy bounced out the door.
7. Bouncing up and down looked fun.
8. They kept bouncing until the balls began to pop.
9. I envy Bob because he made lots of animal friends.

* Sleeping Beauty
Once there were a king and queen at the castle. They were both very sad. “We want a baby! Then we’ll be
glad.”
One happy day, their wish came true. “Listen, everyone! We have news for you!” “There’s a new baby
princess here today.” The people were happy and shouted, “Hurray!” “Let’s have a party. We’ll invite all the
fairies. We’ll have ice cream, juice and lots of berries.” The baby princess was so cute. The fairies played
games. They ate all the fruit. But a bad fairy came into the room. She was ugly and green. She flew on a
broom. “One day she’ll hurt her finger and fall asleep. But she won’t wake up. Everyone will weep.”
There were many sharp things. The king ordered to take them away. He said to the princess. “Be careful
when you play!”
The princess grew up. She became so pretty. “Let’s go for a walk!” she said to her Kitty. The princess and
the kitty walked through the trees. “Be careful, Princess!” said the buzzing bees.
The princess bent down. She picked a flower. When she looked up, she saw a tower. She walked into the
tower. It was dark and scary. “Welcome to my home!” said the bad fairy.
“Sit here, Princess. Give this a try! Hurry up, Princess. Don’t be shy!” said the bad fairy. The princess sat
down on the dirty couch. She touched the wheel and hurt her finger. “OUCH!” Suddenly she was very tired
Sleeping Beauty
By Jennifer Kim
Sleeping Beauty is one of the best folktales. The princess was the only child of the royal family.
One day, the king and queen called many fairies to the feast for princess. A bad fairy said the princess
would prick her finger with a needle and fall asleep. She can wake up only if a man loves her and kisses
her.
One day a prince arrived to the tower. The prince fell in love and kissed her. Finally, the princess woke up
and they lived peacefully ever after. My favorite part was when the handsome prince found Sleeping
Beauty.
