Objective:
The objective of this activity is to enhance the proficiency of mechanical
engineering students in producing precise and detailed isometric drawings
for technical applications.
Materials Required:
1. An 8 x 11.5 in. sheet of high-quality drawing paper with pre-marked layout.
2. A fine pencil.
3. A ruler with millimeter markings.
4. Technical pens: 0.6mm and 0.2mm (or 0.5mm and 0.1mm).
5. An eraser. ISOMETRIC
6. 60- and 30-degree triangles. DRAWING
7. A precision compass.
Plate No. 4: Creating Isometric Drawing from Multiview Drawing
Deadline: 11-15-2023
Procedure:
1. Begin by analyzing the object you are about to draw.
Consider its orientation, dimensions, and specific features
that need to be highlighted in the isometric view.
2. Follow the provided measurements and utilize the 60- and
30-degree triangles to create accurate construction lines and
arcs within the layout. These lines will serve as the
foundation for your isometric drawing.
3. Once you are satisfied with the pencil drawing, carefully trace
over it using the appropriate technical pen thickness (0.6mm
and 0.2mm, or 0.5mm and 0.1mm). Maintain a steady hand
for consistent line thickness and a professional finish.
4. Exclude any metric dimensions and instructional notes.
Focus solely on the lines themselves. All measurements
should be in millimeters, emphasizing quality and accuracy.

ISOMETRIC
DRAWING
PLATE No 4: Rubric
Scale: 5-3
Accuracy (30%):Drawing is positioned properly on the paper; all measurements are accurate; drawing
is square; features are positioned properly.
Lines Use (25%): Object lines are wide & dark; hidden & center lines are thin & dark; lines are straight
and consistently the same width; construction lines are barely discernable.
Completeness (25%): Drawing is very detailed. Drawing has no missing lines, dimensions, or other
drafting features.
Lettering (10%): Neat lettering. lettering/numbers are from the single-stroke gothic alphabet; letters
are all capitalized; letters/numbers are all 1/8”; serifs are not used; letters/numbers are properly
formed.
Neatness (10%): Lines do not go beyond their stopping points; paper is free of smudges; extraneous
marks are not visible; lines are single width.
