This solution proved to be sustainable because even as the demand for masks waned, their
sewing skills remained relevant, allowing them to contribute to the ongoing need for clothing.
Project Utsav: Our ongoing project aims to address the challenges faced by the
potter’s community, including seasonal income throughout the year (major income during
festivals like Diwali and exploitation by intermediaries who claim a significant share of their
profits.
(1) Identifying year-round products, such as kulhads (for tea) and matkas (for biryani), to
provide a consistent income source beyond festivals.
(2) Eliminating intermediary cuts by directly connecting with potters, thereby increasing their
profits.
(3) Establishing partnerships with college canteens, cafes, cloud kitchens, and other
potential buyers to create a sustainable market for pottery products.
This solution is designed to be sustainable by fostering trust between potters and buyers,
eventually allowing them to collaborate directly. As a result, the project can continue
indefinitely without external intervention.
