To have meaningful and successful accomplishments in this FS Episode, be sure to read through
the whole episode before participating and assisting in your FS 2, Resource Teacher’s class. Note
all the information you will need and tasks you will need to do before working on this Episode.
Objectives:
At the end of this Learning Episode, I must be able to:

 Be familiar about action research as a reflective teacher.

 Underscore the importance of doing action research.
Content of the Lesson
Doing Action Research: An Overview
Every teacher is an action researcher. Everyone can do it. Teachers and students can do it
together.
This episode focuses on doing action research as one of the roles of the teacher. Every
teacher should take interest to know how students learn, wants to make innovations in the
curriculum and desires to improve teaching practice. In order to achieve these, a teacher has to
do action research on the everyday practical problems. These problematic situations and
observed discrepancies emerge between what is intended and what actually occurs in the
classroom.

Guide Questions
Action research seems easy and familiar. Since teaching seems to be full of problematic
situations and that teacher has a responsibility of findings solution for everyday problems in
school, hence teachers should do action research. This is an exciting part of being a teacher, a
problem solver!
Let us continue to examine and analyze what you have noticed and interpreted in the previous
activity.

Self-Learning Activity-A
A. Based on the readings you made and the previous activities that you have done.
1. What significant ideas or concepts have you learned about action research?
I learned that there is so much beyond from this papers; it is the tool that will basically
help you in perpetuating myself in becoming an effective and efficient educational perpetrator
who really give importance to the progress and growth. This is very imperative for it play a
significant role in finding, recognizing and aiding the gaps and scarcity of the teaching-learning
process. By this, I could be able to spot and identify the problems and dilemmas inside the four
corners of the classroom and for the betterment of the classroom management. Action research
has a massive and profound impact that we should not neglect instead it as utilize it.

2. Have you realized that there is a need to be an action researcher as a future teacher?
Yes, I realized that future teachers and especially those who are still in the process of
becoming are encouraged to be an action researcher. It is for their welfare and competency,
wherein it also creates knowledge that basically draws for their full potential and expand their
horizons. This will generates an avenue to visualize and diagnose any arising classroom-barrier
and to immediately address it. This will provides a quantity and qualitative data that can be
used in analyze the problem that soon can create a radical change inside the classroom.
Self-Learning Activity-B
Direction: Choose the best answer.

1. Every future teacher should do action research because _____________________.

D. it is part of the teacher’s standard
2. Spotting a problematic situation on teaching and learning will ________________.
A. sparks an idea of doing Teacher Action Research
B. give more confusion to the teacher
C. create complexity in every teaching
D. add burden to teacher’s daily routine
3. Which of the following statements motivated a teacher to do action research?
A. any problem that occurs in my class will soon pass

D. action research is an optional teacher activity

Write Action Research Prompts

OBSERVE
From what teaching principles of theories can this problem be anchored?
 I have observed and noticed that Action Research begins with a problem or
problematic situation.
Write an example of a problematic situation that you have observed and noticed.
I don’t see any major problem at all but one of the problematic situations I
observed and noticed is the behavior of the students changing of seats and that
someone who loves to roam around is the main problem inside the classroom which can
cause so much distraction to both teachers and the rest of the learners. Maybe it is the
result of 2 consecutive years of full online class due to the detrimental effects of Covid-
19, depriving the students to naturally socialize and make friends and which they are
still continuously adjusting to its transition to full time face to face classes.

REFLECT
What have I Realized? What do I hope to achieve?
I realized that for every teaching learning problem, there is a solution above
I realized that in order to be effective and efficient enough teachers must
practically utilized their professional and personal qualities which required in the
sphere of teaching and learning to create a better and warmer classroom atmosphere.
In that way teacher are now capable to build connections and making them feel of
belongingness to confidently participate and partake their learners in front of the class.
Teachers are expected to dig deeper in finding any kinds of solutions knowing the fact
that there are contributing factors behind this disturbing behavior of the students why
they are acting this way. Teacher must remain composed and be the image of strength
despite how these students behaved. Teachers should not let their emotions, fear and
sentiments conquered them instead they must create any alternative and interventions
how to suppress this kind of manners and conducts. So that the moral of the students
will be straighten and be regulated making it strong and high.
PLAN
As a future action researcher I can plan for an appropriate intervention like
creating strategies that can be used to help in maintaining students focus and keep
student consistency around the class. First is to allocate and provide a specific time to
go out and do their business like going to the bathroom, snacks, etc. and an alphabetical
setting arrangement for them to be discipline in setting anywhere. Never forget to
create a classroom rules and introduce it to the class for them to be acquainted and
draw limitation within their selves. Get the students full attention before making an
announcement or telling news, don’t hesitate to spend a minute gaining and demand
their full attention. Never tolerate any kind of unethical behaviour, it mustn’t be
neglected and even condone it must be address immediately. Utilized and apply 21 st
century literacy that can deviate their attention. These strategies can be the key to
eradicate the variety of obstacle toward creating and maintaining safe and productive
learning environments that can be easily implemented in the classroom. Utilizing the
Applied Behaviour Analysis (1968) which is also known as Behaviour Modification that
is also the science of human behaviour and applying interventions based upon the
principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviours to a meaningful
degree and the improvement of student-behaviour.
ACT
If I conduct or implement my plan, what can be its title?
 If I will implement my doable plan in the future, my title would be
“Generating innovative intervention that can greatly reduce students disruptive
behavior during classes”

SHOW Your Learning Artifacts for your Portfolio

Your artifact will be an Abstract for a completed action research.
Disruptive behaviour has been one of the most concerning problem in the era
and still in the alarming rate. This article describes about the generating of innovative
that can greatly reduce students disruptive behaviour that affect the teaching and
learning process especially while classes are rolling. Teachers should know what
disruptive behaviour is to enable them to deal with problems occurred in their
classroom or to take preventive actions and innovative strategies to keep their students
well-behaved during the class. This can reduce the occurrence and instances of
misbehavior of students in their classroom. To prevent disruption in the classroom,
teachers should establish classroom rules and never tolerate such unethical behavior.
This agreement is then assigned as a learning contract and even a code of conduct with
allows the student to think that they are bounded with laws and regulations. To support
the objective of the study, theories along human attitude and behaviour utilizing the
Applied Behaviour Analysis (1968) which is also known as Behaviour Modification that
is also the science of human behaviour and applying interventions based upon the
principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviours to a meaningful
degree and the improvement of student-behaviour. The goal of this action research is to
generate innovative interventions for students-behavioral issues. After collecting all
data the researcher, together with the help of the statistician tabulated and tallied the
survey. All the accumulated data will be kept for privacy and would hopefully be the
basis in generating innovative intervention. By this this action research can make an
appropriate intervention and identify dimensions used in the literature on teacher
attributes for challenging student behavior.
