Allison Boyer - She mentored me along the way, signed some papers for class, and helped me
gain extra motivation throughout the process.
Richard Hansen - He helped fund the trip and helped me prepare before I left.
Talisha Hansen - She helped fund the trip and came with me as a parent leader. The parent
leaders helped mentor me and the other kids, kept us organized, and helped build.
Parker Smith - He was a trip leader and one of the main organizers of the trip to Tonga. He
helped organize the trip and decided on the activities we would do. While on the trip, he kept us
safe, on track, and determined to finish.
Emily Tew - She was a trip leader: helped keep the trip organized, us safe, and on track to finish.
Jared Christensen - Parent leader: took a ton of pictures, helped take care of us, and helped us

William - Forman: He told each builder what needed to be done, and showed us how to do the
more complex tasks.
Tongan builders - They each showed us how to lay the bricks, mix cement and mortar, and do
other tasks around the worksite. They also jumped in and helped us build the house when their
help was necessary.
Winston and Family - gave us a place to stay throughout the entire trip and fed us
Mrs. Hawley - Gave advice when I asked, and helped me with all of my papers throughout the
semester.
Being a builder consisted of shoveling rocks and dirt through a fence and then through a smaller
grate to get the dirt to the appropriate size to make cement and mortar, carrying cinder blocks,
moving wheelbarrows of rocks and cement throughout the worksite, mixing cement and mortar
by hand, placing cinder blocks, building wood frames for the windows and doors, filling the
placed cinder blocks with cement, painting a cement mixture onto the walls, hammering the roof
into place, scraping the excess mortar off the walls, and putting in the windows and doors. Each
builder on the trip worked hard to help make the house, and not everyone got a chance to try
every job on the worksite, but we all worked hard and got it done!
