Chapter 4: In Cold Blood

Animals survived from its hardest point of their lives, fight for their lives and families. From the world
may seen as dark and no hopes at all, there are animals giving the last hope to survive and be the species
dominating the earth. Different ways on how to survive is the greatest asset of all of the species living on
earth. And there are species that has no power at all to fight for their lives, they are too weak and cannot fight
with the other strongest species than them. Is their dominating the earth last or does it end to extinction?
Does animals before can live without food, water and even proper habitat? Such documentaries are helpful
for us to better understand how those species live in million years ago? We may realize something in this
kind of documentary.
Life on earth documentary especially chapter 4: In Cold Blood, has shown how different species
survived and evolve as years passes by. It is such an interesting documentary and also has a lot of learning
about the origin of species on our earth. As I watch the documentary I was just focus until the end because
it caught my attention. First, 252 million years ago, the earth was dying, it was like dark and no trees and
vegetation at all. That period only Fungi is the dominant life form on earth and the only creature that survived
that time is “Lystrosaurus” they are the ancient ancestors of mammals and they used to burrowing
underground and seeking for caves that’s why even the earth is empty they survived. But the dominance of
Lystrosaurus didn’t last because the biggest predator reptile on its time came, it is the “Erythrosuchid”. It can
kill more than its need, Erythrosuchid ate lystrosaurus and they dominance the earth. That time Lystrosaurus
is too weak and can’t defend themselves. There are more than 10,000 reptiles on earth, has tough scaly skin
that allow them to conquer the dessert of pangea. 10 million years ago continents of earth has been
converging, creating a vast of ocean on the one side of the earth and on the other side was land and it was
called the supercontinent of Pangea. There are still a lot of species emerged on earth just like lizards, insects
(Brine flies), birds (Pterosaurus), and turtles. All of them strive on earth, it is just there are still the strongest
species of them all that can’t defeat by anyone living on earth. Komodo Dragon os one of the strongest and
longest dominance on the earth, they smell through their fork tongue to find their prey. And the prey they are
looking for is the baby komodo dragon. In this chapter, mammals must fight for their lives while reptiles
dominate with accufident swagger. Reptiles has taken the dominance from the mammals. Both on land and
in water, species live.
In conclusion, that’s how different species fight for their live, for them to survive and to dominate. But
sadly there are animals that they eat their own breed just to survive and became the enemies. The main point
in here is to protect yourself first before others. There are still extinction of species and no one will dominate
the earth longer. Having this kind of documentary is helpful and you will learn a lot and visualize what really
happened before that ancient times.
