QR-Coding Lives: Unraveling Autobiographies and Biographies in

Report Writing
Grade 6
On the 2nd of October, students of The City School were encouraged by Miss
Tahreem Iftekhar to browse through a variety of books available in the classroom or
the library. This exercise allowed them to select subjects of their interest for their
research on autobiographies and biographies.

Direct Instruction: With a focus on assisting students in finding appropriate materials,

a question sheet or worksheet was provided to
facilitate the research process. Students were directed
to use a combination of print and digital sources for their research. The emphasis
was on utilizing the library's resources alongside digital platforms.

Guided Practice: Students, having gathered relevant information, were prompted

to create their own books. Each page of the book was structured to follow the
guided questions and worksheet provided during direct instruction. They were
encouraged to incorporate pictures from the internet and even supplement their
biographies with hand-drawn illustrations for a personalized touch.

Independent Practice: This segment allowed students to work independently on

their reports following the structured guidelines from the guided practice.
Additionally, they had the option to collaborate to aid in audio recording of
their work. To submit their assignments, students were guided to create a QR
code for their reports.

Technology Integration: The integration of

technology played a pivotal role in this lesson.
Students not only utilized digital sources for
research but also employed them for visual aids.
They used the internet for images and audio recording, and the incorporation of a
QR code submission methodusing flipped learning technique added a contemporary
aspect to their assignment submissions.
Outcome: The lesson successfully engaged students by offering a
combination of traditional resources and digital tools. This approach not only
deepened their understanding of autobiographies and biographies but also
honed their research, writing, and digital literacy skills. The use of
technology facilitated creativity and diversified the means of presenting their
work, making the learning experience more enjoyable and interactive.

In conclusion, this lesson effectively encouraged students to explore and

comprehend the differences between autobiographies and biographies while
harnessing the power of technology to enhance their learning process.
