About The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba (CSCM) is a proud member of the Canadian Sport Centre network having opened for business in March 1997. The CSCM was created as one of the many legacies of the 1999 Pan American Games held in Winnipeg. With the ongoing support of Sport Manitoba, Canadian Olympic Committee, Sport Canada, Coaching Association of Canada, Pan Am Games Legacy Fund, and the corporate community, the CSCM continues to be recognized as a hub for high performance sport activities in Manitoba. The CSCM provides services and programs to enhance the training environment for athletes and coaches throughout the province. Background: In 2002, a casual trip to Canada Olympic Park left an indelible mark on Jon. While on a tour of the Park, he witnessed a skeleton race, and immediately fell in love with the sport. Jon quickly enjoyed success during his development path in the sport. In 2005-06, Jon became the first Canadian man to win the Europa Cup Overall mens title, and is now considered one of Canadas top skeleton athletes. Jons start to his rookie season on the World Cup could not have been drawn any more perfect. He kicked off the 2006-07 World Cup campaign with a bronze-medal finish on his home track in Calgary. He went on to finish in the top-10 three more times during the season, and finished sixth in the Overall World Cup standings. Last year, Jon had a breakout season the World Cup where he racked up five podium finishes, including his first World Cup victory and a silver medal at the World Championships, en route to finishing second overall on the World Cup. Jon grew up playing hockey and baseball in his hometown of Russell, Manitoba.

Background: Megans interest in biathlon began when she was six years old after watching the Canadian Biathlon Championships in her hometown of Falcon Lake, MB. She took part in an after-school Biathlon Bears program and loved it. Megans work ethic and love for the outdoors can be traced back to growing up on her parents ranch of 40 horses. In 2005, Megan left home to train in Canmore and pursue her dream of representing Canada in the 2010 Olympics. Thanks to the support of her hometown and personal sponsors, Megan has been able to focus on biathlon, and take a few university correspondence courses as well. Megan took a major step forward towards achieving her Olympic dream last year as a rookie on the World Cup circuit where her best finish was 49th at a World Cup in Slovenia. Megans favourite pastime is spending time at her familys cabin, where she enjoys wakeboarding, waterskiing, sailing and horseback riding.
