Converting the SPS to MMS (from series 717)

The complete SPS rack (Klöckner-Möller power supply unit and Klöckner-Möller Master/Slave CPU
as well as the SPS-Bus-Master (coupling computer)) has been removed from all R700 presses
starting from series 717.
From then on the MMS system (Modular Machine Control) in slot 5 of the new Eckelmann Leitstand
computer (80386 DX CPU with a 25MHz cycle) takes over the control function.
The machine control program is saved on the flash EPROMs (512KB) and is loaded into the flash
EPROMs of the MMS board via the FDD (floppy disk drive) – backplane (ISA-Bus) – DPR.
The LWL cables (fibre optics), that were previously plugged into the SPS-Bus (coupling computer),
are now connected to the MMS board.
For service purposes two interfaces are available via the RODIMO cable: the SPS-Bus-Master via
socket –X28 and via –X29 (Service Program Status7) to the machine control program.
Like the Leitstand program, the machine control program (machine code) is supplied on diskettes
with the machine.

Command tables from series 750

From series 750 the command boards of the
i 2nd generation are utilised.

• all push-buttons replaced by SMD-push-

buttons
• use of SMD light diodes
• design assimilation: instead of green LEDs
now orange LEDs
• snap-in front panel instead of screwable
panel
• stop-secure button generally press and lock
(before only for MRU version)
• normal version of operation – crawl speed
now also for MRU version (until now toggle
switch)
