SUBJECT: TONER SPILLS WHEN TONER CARTRIDGE IS REMOVED FROM COPIER

GENERAL:
During May 2017, reports of the Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow toner bottles have spilled toner when the
bottles have been removed from the copier. The amount of bottles that were shipped, was minimum. It has
been discovered that the Shutter would not close after the bottle was removed from the copier.

SOLUTION:
Production Countermeasure:
REI has corrected the issue in the factory.

Field Countermeasure:
Change the [Near End Thresh]. This will reduce the amount of toner that is left in the bottle before the
“Replace Toner Cartridge” message is displayed.

Perform the following procedure:

Enter SP Mode to change the following settings:
- SP 3-110-001 Black change to 25.
- SP 3-110-002 Cyan change to 15.
- SP 3-110-003 Magenta change to 15.
- SP 3-110-004 Yellow Change to 15.

Emphasize to the customer, that the bottle does not need to be replaced until the “Replace Toner Cartridge”
message is displayed.
