Procedure
(a) BRAKE FRONT BRAKE REMOVAL
(1). REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
(2). DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
(3). REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
● Remove the union bolt and gasket from the disc brake cylinder assembly, then
disconnect the flexible hose.
● Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and remove the 2 bolts and disc brake
cylinder assembly.

(b) DISASSEMBLY
(1). REMOVE FRONT BRAKE PAD
(2). REMOVE FRONT ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM
(3). REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE
(4). REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING
(5). REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
(6). REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the cylinder boot set ring and the cylinder boot. NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the brake piston and cylinder.
(7). REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PISTON
(a) Prepare a wooden plate to hold the pistons.
(b) Place the wooden plate between the piston and the disc brake cylinder assembly.
(c) Use compressed air to remove the piston from the disc brake cylinder assembly.
CAUTION: Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air.
(8). REMOVE PISTON SEAL (a) Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal from the disc
brake cylinder assembly.

(c) INSPECTION
(1). INSPECT PAD LINING THICKNESS : Using a ruler, measure the pad lining thickness.
Standard thickness: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm (0.039 in.)
(2). INSPECT DISC THICKNESS : Using a micrometer, measure the disc thickness. Standard
thickness: 28.0 mm (1.102 in.) Minimum thickness : 25.0 mm ( 0.983 in.) If the disc
