bha¯g¦-crooked; tara¯gai¤-with waves; mudita-happy; vadana-face; candraª-moon;
candrak§p¦¨a-with peacock-feather ornament; dh§r¦-wearing; mudira-raincloud; madhura-
charming; k§nti¤-splendor; bh§ti-shines; kuñje-in the forest; vih§r¦-enjoys transcendental
pastimes.

Always charming with amorous smiles, as if devoured by the waves of R§dh§'s

sidelong glances, His jubilant face like the moon, His head decorated with a peacock
feather, and His complexion as charming as a monsoon cloud, the Lord shines with great
splendor as He enjoys pastimes in the forest.

Starting the orchestra of winds, strings, and drums, and gracefully moving as He
plays king of the dance in the midst of the circle of beautifully decorated girls on the
Yamun§'s shore, the Lord shines with great splendor as He enjoys pastimes in the forest.

ªikhini when the peacock; kalita-sounded; ¢a¨je-the first note; kokile-when the cuckoo;
pañcam§¨hye-sounded the fifth note; svayam-personally; api-also; nava-new; va°ªy§-with the
flute; udd§mayan-releasing; gr§ma-of musical scales; mukhyam-the best; dh¥ta-held;
m¥gamada-of musk; gandha¤ the fragrance; su¢±hu-nicely; g§ndh§ra-as g§ndh§ra(t10;
sa°jñam-named; tri-the three; bhuvana-worlds; dh¥ti-peaceful composure; h§ri¤-removing.

When the peacock sings the first note and the cuckoo the fifth, He unleashes the most
beautiful g§ndh§ra melody on His flute, and steals away the peaceful composure of the
three worlds. In this way the Lord, fragrant with musk, shines with great splendor as He
enjoys pastimes in the forest.

R§dh§; a¯gul¦uka¤-fingers; laghu laghu-gently; kusum§n§m-of flowers; parya±an-strolling;
v§±ik§y§m-in the garden; sa-with; rabhasam-happiness; anug¦taª-sung; citra-wonderful; ka£
±h¦bhi¤-with throats; uccai¤-loudly; vraja-of Vraja; nava-young; yuvat¦bhi¤-girls.

Taking R§dh§'s fingers in the peerless twigs of His own hand, and strolling with Her
in a garden of flowers as the young girls of Vraja sing in wonderfully beautiful voices,
the Lord shines with great splendor as He enjoys pastimes in the forest.

moving in the wind; v§dye-music; vraja-of Vraja; giri-hills; ta±a-shores; ra¯ge-in the arena;
bh¥¯ga-by bees; sa¯g¦ta-songs; bh§ji-[ossessing; viracita-manifested; paricaryaª-service; citra-
wonderful; taurya-trike£a-by simultaneous singing, dancing, and instrumental music; stimita-
fixed; kara£a-of the senses; v¥tti¤-actions.

His senses completely absorbed in the dancing, singing, and instrumental mus¦ as the
peacocks dance, the bamboos sound in the wind, and the bumblebees sing in the arena of
Vraja's hill, the Lord shines with great splendor as He enjoys pastimes in the forest.

tad ati-rahasi v¥tta° preyas¦-kar£a-m¡le
smita-mukham abhijalpan bh§ti kuñje-vih§r¦

diªi diªi -in every direction; ªuka-s§r¦-of male and female parrots; ma£¨alai¤-by the circles;
g¡¨ha-confidential; l¦l§¤-pastimes; praka±am-revealing; anupa±hadbhi¤-by reciting; nirmita-
done; aªcarya-wonderful; p¡ra¤-in the presence; tat-that; ati-very; rahasi-in a secluded place;
v¥ttam-done; preyas¦-of His beloved; kar£a-in the ear; m¡le-in the root; smita-smiling;
mukham-face; abhijalpan-saying.
 His confidential pastimes transformed by the reciting parrots into a wonderful
flooding river, and Himself smiling as he whispers their words in the ear of His beloved,
the Lord shines with great splendor as He enjoys pastimes in the forest.

nayana-kamala-lak¢m¦r vandate k¥¢£as§ra¤
alir alam alak§nta° nauti paªyeti r§dh§°
su-madhuram anuªa°san bh§ti kuñje-vih§r¦

tava-of You; cikura-kadambam-the hair; stambhate-becomes stunned; prek¢ya-seeing;

kek¦-the peacock; nayana-kamala-lotus-eyed; lak¢m¦¤-the beauty; vandate-bows down; k¥¢
£as§ra¤-the black deer; ali¤-the bee; -alam-greatly; alak§ntam-the hair; nauti-praises; paªyeti-
sees; r§dh§m-R§dh§; su-very; madhuram-sweetly; anuªa°san-praising.

Very sweetly flattering R§dh§ by saying, "Look! Seeing Your beautiful hair, this
peacock has become stunned. This k¥¢£as§ra deer bows down to offer respect to the
beauty of Your lotus eyes. This bumblebee is praising Your curling hair," the Lord
shines with great splendor as he enjoys pastimes in the forest.

madana-with amorous passion; tarala-trembling; b§l§-of the girls; cakrav§lena-by the

multitude; vi¢vag-everywhere; -various; vividhavara-kal§n§m-of arts; ªik¢ay§-by instruction;
sevyam§na¤-served; skhalita-fallen; cikura-veªe-hair ornament; skandha-deªe-on the
shoulders; priy§y§¤-of His beloved; prathita-extended; p¥±hula-broad; b§hu¤-arm.

Following the various expert instructions of the passionate girls, Heplaces His broad
arm on His beloved's shoulders where Her hair has fallen. The Lord shines with great
splendor as He enjoys pastimes in the forest.

vih§ri-enjoying transcendental pastimes; smara£a-padam-meditation; adh¦te-studies; tu¢±a-
happy; dh¦¤-at heart; a¢±akam-eight verses; ya¤-one who; nija-own; gu£a-virtues; v¥tay§-
filled; ªr¦-r§dhy§-by ¼r¦ R§dh§; §r§dhitas-worshiped; tam-him; nayati-leads; nija-to His own;
pad§bjam-lotus feet; kuñja-in the forest; sadma-abode; §dhir§ja¤-the monarch.

He who with a joyful heart reads these eight prayers, which are beautiful with many
peerless pastimes, and which make one remember the Lord who plays in the forest, the
Lord, who is worshiped by the supremely virtuous R§dh§, and who is the king of the
forest, leads to His own lotus feet.
