Poetry for language week – Demented

Demented
I am unhinged
Muddled by the simplest of aspects
Baffled by all the splendour
Enticed by trickle of water beneath the melting snow
Or is it blood?? I never know.....
I never understood my role in this game
Am i a cloud or a drop of rain??
Bright sunshine or a shadow of the night??
The devourer or the prey??

I am lured into a fantasy

Ascending the stairs to the clouds
To see a field of radiant flowers
Hands reaching out, longing to stroke them
Only to watch the petals crumbling into nothingness
A mere fantasy?? Or just crazed by beauty??

I am crestfallen
Watching as chaos is let loose
Wrecked as i watch a shadow fall upon the world
And when i see the waters emerge as rivers of blood
I know, the Four Horsemen have come
Only a matter of time before the Dragon stirs

I am lost
A lone voice among a multitude of cries for mercy gone unheard
An Omega abandoned by its pack
A Fallen among a host
Shunned, Deserted, Forgotten, Rejected, Forsaken (Breathe)
Maybe even demented
But as i lay under the Falling sky
Watching as the stars burn out
I start to wonder

Was i a cloud or a drop of rain??

Bright sunshine or a shadow of the dark ??
The devourer or the prey??
Or just another girl left to rot away
