All courses and admissions to our College are subject to applicable regulations by University /
Government / National Medical Commission.
No fee or donation or any other payments are accepted in lieu of admissions, other than what has
been prescribed in the prospectus. The prospectus can be downloaded free from our website at
http://www.cmch-vellore.edu/
The General Public are therefore CAUTIONED not to be lured by any person / persons offering
admission to any of the courses conducted by CMC.
Should any prospective candidate be approached by any person / persons, this may immediately be
reported to the law enforcement agencies for suitable action and also brought to the notice of the

Important Information: “All processes related to admissions for the Super Specialty courses are subject
to the orders that may be passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court relating to NEET, Common Counseling
or any other statutory enactments passed by the Central or State Government.

MEDICAL SUPER SPECIALTY ADMISSIONS 2023
The aforesaid object is based on the religious percept of “Heal the Sick”, Matthew 10.8.
Candidates held to be eligible based on the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Super
Specialty Courses conducted by National Board of Examinations under the auspices of the National Medical
Commission for the academic session 2023 (NEET-SS 2023), are eligible for admission to the courses.
All DM / MCh candidates will have a service obligation of 2 years, except for MCh Plastic Surgery, MCh
Cardiothoracic Surgery and Paediatric Surgery which will have a service obligation of 1 year. The service
obligation will be at CMC Vellore or one of its associated mission hospitals located in different parts of
the country, after completion of the course.

AND MEDICAL PRACTICE OR ANY OTHER EMPLOYMENT OUTSIDE THE INSTITUTION IS STRICTLY NOT
PERMITTED.

MD/MS/DNB training programme, they may be required to spend an additional 6 months or more in training.”

2. THE ADMISSION PROCESS
The selection of all candidates for Super Specialty courses for the academic year 2023-24 will be through
the Common Counselling process of the DGHS, Government of India. Only candidates allotted to CMC,
Vellore during the various rounds of the online common counselling process by the DGHS for the SS seats
2023, will be admitted.
At the time of admission a Medical check-up will be conducted for all selected candidates. The admission
will be subject to medical clearance. Treatment for pre-existing illnesses will not be covered by the
Institution.
The candidate will be required to sign a legal agreement with the medical college at the time of admission
regarding the service obligation, reimbursement of training cost and penalty for discontinuing the course.
Candidates, who have passed any qualifying exam, other than from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical
University, shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and submit
it to CMC, Vellore.
The following certificates should be submitted in original at the time of registration for admission:

and (ii) a scanned copy of the candidate’s signature. Both the files and the CD cover should be
labelled with the name of the candidate and the course. The image file size should not exceed
100 KB.
14. Foreign nationals must submit a no objection certificate (to undergo the course) issued
by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
15. Proof of identity (Passport /Voter ID /Driving License) – Please bring all 3 if available.
16. PAN Card.
17. Form 16 (if available).
In addition to the originals, three copies of all the above certificates are required at the
time of admission.
*Kindly note that if there is any previous incomplete service obligation with any of the State Medical
Health Services, which could result in the candidate being unable to obtain a ‘Migration Certificate’
or ‘No objection Certificate’, then it could lead to the candidate being ineligible for an ‘Eligibility
Certificate’ from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University or obtaining registration with the
Tamil Nadu Medical Council.
3. FEES

5. WITHDRAWALS
The rules of the Common counselling process by the DGHS will be strictly followed. Candidates who are
allotted seats and join the course will be expected to complete the whole training period. Those who
withdraw from the course thereafter will not be selected for any training course or staff appointment
subsequently in this institution. Discontinuation of the course after joining, resulting in lapse of the seat, will
result in a penalty of Rs.35 lakhs including GST.
6. SERVICE OBLIGATION
CMC affirms its commitment to the promotion of health and wholeness in individuals and communities and its
special concern for the disabled, disadvantaged, marginalized and vulnerable. CMC therefore requires that all
Super Specialty candidates provide an undertaking / bond to serve in rural and needy areas of the country.
Education at CMC Vellore is highly subsidized and it is for this reason that the tuition fee is as low as Rs.500/-
per year and all DM / MCh candidates have a service obligation of 2 years, except for MCh Plastic Surgery,
MCh Cardiothoracic Surgery and MCh Paediatric Surgery which will have a service obligation of 1 year.
The service obligation will be at CMC Vellore or one of its associated mission hospitals located in different
parts of the country, after completion of the course.
Candidates who do not fulfill the service obligation will not be eligible for admission to further
postgraduate studies or for appointment as staff of CMC, Vellore. They will not be given any certificates other
than those statutorily mandated by the University and respective Professional Council / Regulatory Body.
The Principal is authorized to withhold transcripts and other non-statutory certificates issued by the College
until the service obligations are fulfilled.
For non-fulfillment of service obligation, the candidate shall be liable to reimburse the Institution the training
cost of Rs.1.5 crores including GST, which is calculated based on actual of the stipend, cost of training,
boarding provided, health care costs and service obligation per annum.
Medical Records Department: In clinical areas, special emphasis is given to medical record keeping. There
is a well-organized Medical Record Library in the institution as well as a departmental record system.
Facilities are provided in these areas for trainees to conduct retrospective case studies from records.
Research activity of each Department: The Christian Medical College supports an active medical research
programme. To broaden this experience, the trainees are encouraged to participate in research activities. A
Research Methodology course will be conducted for all newly selected higher specialty students. Attendance
for this is mandatory. Failure to do so will result in the candidates forfeiting the privilege of obtaining research
grants from the CMC Research Committee.
Accommodation: Partly furnished accommodation will be provided for all trainees depending on
availability. Candidates are required to vacate their accommodation within 2 weeks of finishing their course.
Car parking facility is not available.
Recreation: Facilities for tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball and table tennis are available
Staff Student Health Clinic: The medical needs of the students and staff of the Christian Medical College
are met through the clinic provided for this purpose.

Hepatitis B Vaccination is mandatory for all students. The selected candidates should contact the Staff
Student Health Service within one week of joining the course. The candidates have to pay for Vaccination (3
doses and 1 booster dose). Failure to take the Vaccination will make the candidate ineligible for free
immunoglobulin in the event of accidental exposure of Hepatitis-B. If the candidate has already been
vaccinated elsewhere the serum antibody titres should be confirmed through the Staff Student Health Service.
The candidates have to pay for this test.
