Purpose Statement- The purpose of the UNSW Solar Farm development project is to strategically
position UNSW for its 2025 goals by establishing a sustainable renewable energy source and
fostering innovation, while also contributing to academic excellence and social impact.
Scope Statement- This project involves engineering, procurement, and construction of a 20MW PV
solar farm, expandable to 30MW, on a 35-hectare UNSW site in rural NSW, integrated into the
electrical grid. Key components include PV cell installation, logistics coordination, infrastructure,
electrical systems, and a control room for monitoring and research. The project aims to supply UNSW
with renewable energy, align with its 2025 objectives, foster innovation, and support academic
excellence. Constraints include a budget of $25M and a time duration of 1 year and 10 months,
ending on 30 August 2025. The solar farm will provide 20MW initially, with infrastructure designed
for future expansion to 30MW to support research and development.
