Examiner’s Material
To be conducted by the teacher-examiner or by the visiting examiner between 16 April and 18 May
2018.
Time allowed: 21–23 minutes (including 5 minutes’ preparation time at the start of the test)
Instructions
• During the 5 minutes’ preparation time at the start of the test, candidates are required to prepare
one of the two cards given to them.
• Candidates may make notes during the preparation time only on the Additional Answer Sheet
provided. They must not write on the card.
• Candidates may refer to the card and any notes they have made at any time during this section of
the test.
• Candidates should hand the stimulus card and the Additional Answer Sheet to you before the
start of the independent research section.
Information
• The test will last approximately 16–18 minutes and will consist of a stimulus card (5–6 minutes), a
presentation by the candidate of his/her research project (2 minutes) and a discussion of the
research project (9–10 minutes). The discussion should focus on the content of the research,
not the process.
• You will ask the questions exactly as they are printed on the card and may ask follow-up
questions to develop the discussion of the sub-theme.
• You will give a brief response to any questions which the candidate asks you during the
discussion.
• If the candidate does not ask two questions, you will invite the candidate to do so before the end
of the discussion on the sub-theme.
• To develop the discussion of the sub-theme, candidates will be expected to respond to questions
and discuss in Spanish broader issues within the sub-theme on the card.
• Candidates must not use a dictionary at any time during the preparation period or during the test.

El 1 de enero de 2017 cambió la ley en España. Ahora el padre tiene derecho a un mes de permiso
por paternidad.
Hay muchos españoles que quieren alargar este permiso a 4 meses para igualarlo al permiso por
maternidad.
Hay todavía muchos hombres españoles que no piden el permiso por el miedo al ‘qué dirán’ o
porque piensan que 'es una obligación de las mujeres'.

El número de denuncias aumentó en varias regiones. Andalucía fue la región con el mayor número,
casi 30.000 denuncias.

psicológico.

Los tres grupos religiosos (católicos, judíos y musulmanes) coexistieron pacíficamente durante parte
de la Edad Media en España.

En 1492 los Reyes Católicos expulsaron a los árabes y judíos.
En la actualidad, España acepta todas las religiones.

Según la asociación ‘Las Madres de la Plaza de Mayo’, más de 30.000 hijos y 500 nietos
desaparecieron durante los primeros años de la dictadura argentina.
Estas mujeres llevan 40 años reuniéndose los jueves en la Plaza de Mayo, en Buenos Aires.
La UNESCO les dio en 1999 el premio Educación por la Paz; tienen apoyo y reconocimiento
internacional.
Gracias a la genética han encontrado ya a 121 nietos, pero todavía tienen a casi 400 nietos por
encontrar.

Students must be given two stimulus cards using the following sequence. The teacher-examiner
must avoid overlap with the student’s individual research topic. It is not possible to make a blanket
ruling on the issue of the overlap of topics. Part of the teacher-examiner’s preparation is to look at
the scope of the individual cards and make a judgement as to whether there is the possibility of
overlap of material in terms of what their students have researched. If so, then the next suitable
combination of cards in the sequence should be offered to the student. Schools/colleges with more
than 30 students should begin the sequence again from number 1.
